Yo.
I'm too lazy to join a comic forum (the last thing I need is to log into yet another forum every day), so I figure some tankers can help me out here. I'm a big superhero fan, but I'm a strange one at that: I'm only really a fan of the cartoon and movie incarnations - I stopped reading comics when I was 15, so I'm really out of the loop. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, and was wondering what were some of the best graphic novels I should be picking up? I'm really into the Justice League, and anything involving Superman and Batman. I recently picked up and enjoyed Batman & Robin: The Boy Wonder, Batman Year One, All Star Superman, Justice League Identity Crisis, Superman: For Tomorrow, and Superman/Batman: Supergirl, and Batman: Hush. Are there any other must read graphic novels I should be getting my hands on, when it comes to JL, Superman and Batman? Any input would be appreciated. |

Yes, this 100%!
Also, Green Lantern: Rebirth was awesome. The Omac Project is another good one. You see Bats going against the JLA at times. This also helped lead us into Infinite Crisis. That story is great as well. One of my favorites though that came out of all the pre-Crisis stuff was, by far, Villains United. Lastly, Batman/Superman: Public Enemies was a fun read. Get to see those 2 throw down against all odds (Luther). Last edited by JohnnyAngel77; 05-20-2010 at 01:41 PM.. |

I too am a finicky comic book reader and have recently just got back into it. Pretty much only reading GI Joe, selected Batman & reading Iron Man for the first time.
I found Jeph Loeb to be great with Batman: Batman: Hush Batman: Haunted Knight Batman: The Long Halloween Batman: Dark Victory Loeb/Sale are also great here: Catwoman: When in Rome Spiderman: Blue Hulk: Gray Daredevil: Yellow And I'll second The Killing Joke. |

Oh, Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns is also great!
On the other hand, Miller's The Dark Knight Strikes again is crap, IMO. |

Batman: Hush (one of MY favs)
Batman: War Drums Batman: Cataclysm Batman: Haunted Knight Batman: The Long Halloween Batman: Dark Victory Batman: Knightfall, Knightquest & Knightsend**** The whole Knightfall/Quest/End story is fantastic, as we see Batman fall in battle for the first time, having to pass The Mantle of The Bat to another. His successor has a "unique" view and method of fighting crime, which causes Bruce Wayne to rethink his actions, come back and reclaim the identity of Batman, mentally and physically. |

I disagree. I've heard this a lot though so this isn't me arguing at all. I liked this story because it explains where all the other heroes are during everything. Plus, watching Bats beat up Supes with Kryptonite gloves is awesome.
