I wanted to start a FAVORITES thread about the Marvel run #'s 1-155.
What is your absolute #1 favorite Marvel GI Joe issue? Why? Consider cover art, storyline script, 1st appearences, art and colors, toy and cartoon references, etc. Mine is #24.... The cover art is awesome with Roadblock knocking the crap out of Stormy as Cobra Commander swoops down on the CLAW with Duke comming out of Headquarters armed with a classic "Joe rifle". The storyline is fantastic and is packed with action from several main characters. And this is the first app of Firefly and WildWeasel and cameo's in Zartan leading up to issue 25. Hands down my fav! Whats everyone elses??

I liked the "secret origins" issue with Snake Eyes and Stalker ... issue 26.

I don't know if it's my absolute favorite, but I've always enjoyed #2. It's the first appearance of Kwinn, and Cobra was still in its infancy in the minds of Hama and Hasbro. It's a great story packed into a single issue.

Issue #1, Great Cover and intro to the JOES and Cobra along with great art, coloring and action. - Very outdated, but still a lot of fun.
Issue #10 We finally get to see Cobra HQ and a little background on the man, who started it all. Issue #20 - Loved the cover, not the greatest story, but a it was a great one off issue and a solo story about ONE Joe. 23 - Great painted cover and CC Captured quote was great, the story line through the next few issues really showed the depth and maturity of the story telling of the series and set up multiple plot lines for years to come. 24 - Great action and a chance for the Joes to talk to CC one on one. CObra w/o it's leader, how does it function, will the upper echelon even try to rescue CC? 25 - Intro a few new Joes, Wild Weasel, Firefly, Zartan and the Dreadnoks, and a teaser at the end - The origin of Snake Eyes. 34 - One of my absolute favorites issues of GI JOE ever! - The dogfight between Ace & Wild Weasel. The ending is a CLASSIC! I could go on and on, but I can't remeber some of the #s of the stories. |

With the exception of Issue #21, I believe that is probably the best Stand Alone story of GI JOE ever and possibly the best ending of any issue.

In addition to ones already mentioned, #6 and #7 stood out for me as well as an Army brat growing up in the 80s Cold War era. The Oktober Guard was pure win as characters and stroytelling in the Joe verse.

well I gotta say that there were so many comics that were awesome in that marvel run. I really liked the 1st 70 or 80 issues. I actually think that they kinda went down hill past issue 100 but that is just my personal opinion as I haven't actually read all this issues past 100. I did like issue 109 I think when SAW viper killer off a ton of joes! That was a stand out issue for sure. Another awesome story was issue #30 where spirit and snake eyes are at his cabin and they fight destro! I really liked that issue a lot! I remember buying it at the local shop when I was in like 7th grade and read it. Man that was so sweet!
