Add me to the #34 bandwagon for all the reasons previously covered.
Also issues 1-11 are an awesome run. My favorite back up story was in issue 50, the first Special Missions story. |

Wow....I can't pick just one, so bare with me. A little sidenote: I read the comic and collected the toys from #1 until 61....then got sidetracked by other comics, girls and that godamn rock and roll. I have since gone back and collected MOST of the rest of the Marvel run, but there's still a few of the later issues I haven't read. Eventually I'll get all the trade paperbacks to have the whole deal. My favorites:
#1: It was the first issue, so there's the nostalgia factor, but it was also a good intro to Joe and Cobra. #2: Showed Joe was not all about fighting Cobra....they could take care of other crap, too. Plus the intro of Kwinn, one of my favorite characters. #6-7: Intro of the Oktober Guard....played up on the Cold War, the whole decoy ending was great. #11: Intros of Destro and the new recruits. Rock n' Roll talks with his mouth full. #12: Starts a real continuity with the comic....previously, the comic was mostly stand alone stories. This is when it was getting really good. #25: Intro of Zartan, Joes on a boat. #26-27: Obvious reasons. #34: Same reasons as everyone else...I used to act out this issue with my toys. #40-41: Big sea battle, birth of Cobra Island. #43: Death galore....and an awesome cover. #47: More new recruits, another sea battle, and another great cover. #49-50: Battle of Springfield, all the Joes in action, Storm Shadow "returns from the dead", even the creation of Serpentor was cool at first. #57: Joe and Destro working together? Interesting. #86: The return of the original GI Joe (and Jane the Nurse), fun issue. #152: More Joe Colton action. |
