The original art, or the page from the comic?

Issue #11
First appearance of Snow Job, Doc, Airborne and Destro as well as the Battle Bear. I love stories set in the snow so this was a great one for me. Great dialog and art plus some of my favorite characters make their first appearance. I think I have 10 copies of this one. I would buy it when ever I see it. Hope to meet Mr. Hama one day and get this one signed. |

These are kind of Snake Eyes heavy, but hey, he's my reason for loving GI Joe. Besides, if you love him for the uber-ninja unbeatable commando he is, then these are prime butt-whooping experiences.
94-96 - the Snake Eyes trilogy, and the introduction of the v.3 costume. Also kicks the rear-ends of the Paine Bros. 103-108 - storming the borovian gulag under the Arashikage mindset (plus Scarlett stabs SS, Strawhacker bites the big one, and Magda gets freed (w/ the return of the White Clown)). 119 - SE, SS and Scarlett raid a Cobra factory to find Cobra is producing replica/androids. SE takes on his robot self, with Storm Shadow using his head to figure out which is which. 124 - SE vs. Slice - Snake Eyes lulls him into a false sense of security, and when Slice goes in for the kill, SE jump kicks him in the face, lands and catches his sword (that slice had earlier knocked away). 131 (I think) - SE opens up his mind of former selves to tear down Firefly's brainwashing in his own head. Just cool to see all of SE's uniforms in his own head. Glad that he thinks of himself in terms of hasbro releases :P 132-134 - SE, Duke, Roadblock and Lady Jaye storm the silent castle, where Firefly and the Red Ninjas have taken up residence. Just a bad@$$ story arc with the new terminator looking bats getting chopped into pieces a SE schooling a gaggle of Red Ninjas with Firefly on top. |

Pleasantly surprised to see #34 get so much love. Didn't think it was as popular as it is. Though I haven't read all issues by any means, this was the first issue I could think of, so I'd have to go with it as well.

^^^ This. I'm still impressed by the fact that Marshall Rodgers did the breakdowns and penciled the whole thing in less than a couple of weeks after editor Bob Harras (rightfully) rejected Todd McFarlane's poorly laid out original pencils for the story. And Spigou was such a cool supporting character.
Two of my other favourite single-issues are issues #67 (Storm-Shadow's philosophizing in the last two pages had a profound effect on me as a kid) and #69, loved the exchange between Ambassador Winthrop and Hawk:
Who knew that a comic based on a bunch of toy soldiers would contain such pointed commentary on US foreign policy? I really dug how Hama promoted the idea that a soldier can be dedicated to his duties/follow orders and still think independently and be critical of government leadership at the same time (the idea no doubt shaped by Hama's experiences in Vietnam). My all time fav issue (and comic for that matter) is Issue 4. It was my first Joe comic, featured Snake Eyes, Hawk and Grunt. but more importantly it started me collectiing comics (I had a bunch of them prior that Id get at the grocerery store, ect. but this book made me start taking care of them) ...so one store full of inventory and 10,000 plus comics in my personal collection later

Issue 11-intro of Doc, Gung Ho, Snow Job, etc. One of my all time faves.
Issue 13-Torpedo's first appearance. Some great lines too-"We don't have to steal. Our rich uncle's paying for it all!" Issue 36-2 major subplots-the future creation of Cobra Island and Snake Eyes' first encounter with Fred II, aka Wade Collins. |

I don't know about favorite yet, but I can tell you I just got to #60 last night and was immensely disappointed... probably the worst one I've read yet. And it sucks, too, because it introduces most of my all time favorite characters into the series for the first time--the '87 lineup (although Outback in introduced in the issue prior to this one). But Falcon, Chuckles, Law (& Order), and Fast Draw... kidnapping a brigadier general? For what? Random encounter with Dreadnoks? Everything about that issue was random and entirely out of sequence with the rest of the series. It was so disconnected. It's obvious they just needed a reason to introduce these new characters. Disappointing, too, considering how they actually pulled off introducing such a random character as Raptor and CC's new Battle Armor Suit in such a relatively convincing way just one issue before!!!
