Merrill,
It seems the focus of the Origins line went from a continuous story over the first several issues to now more of a "one-shot" comic format. Is that something you sensed was going to continue forth, or has there been some discussion of having a multi-part story format returning?

Happy to be here, man. There are some other Joe characters I would love to tackle. To be honest, I get a little intimidated of writing some of my favorite Joes, but I would love to chance to work more of them. I am not sure how, where or when yet, but I would kill to write Flint. He was in several early drafts of this Snow Job story, but I finally thought he was getting in the way of Snow Job's big moment. Cutting him from the script was heart breaking.
And Snow Job actually starts the issue off in Antarctica, so no freezer selling yet. Ok, here is a "serious" question. VAMP or AWE Striker? Personally, I think the VAMP has gotten the (crank) shaft over the years while the AWE Striker has become the go-to vehicle of sorts. Plus, who doesn't like Clutch? |

ChaplainAsst. - First of all, cool name, not only because of the Joe connotation, but also because my cousin actually is a chaplain's assistant in the Army over in Afghanistan. I honestly am not sure what I am allowed to say about future stories. I do know there is a multi-part arc coming. Tom showed me the covers and they are awesome. Not sure if I can say more than that. I knew that I was doing a one-shot, but I did leave a few threads that may be picked up on again later.
In that sense too, Mainframe was a single issue, but it did tie into the larger series. And Ripcord is two parts too. I think the Snow Job book might be the biggest odd duck of the bunch. I definitely wanted to try keep some of the vibe of my favorite Joe book of all time, Special Missions. One issue, in and out. |

Airborne,
I know how you feel. I used to carry Flint around in my back pocket when I was a kid. I lost him at school one day and was just beyond upset. I looked for a new Flint for maybe a year, but that series had already disappeared. I vividly remember finding a dusty old Flint in a Sears in the middle of Florida and just being overjoyed. It was such a triumphant moment. If I was being honest, I don;t have a special affinity for either of those vehicles, but I will say the Vamp because Tom Feister will punch me in the face if I don't pick Clutch's ride. |

That is awesome that you take inspiration from Special Missions, my favorite as well. Can you tell us any other characters that are in this issue? I swear it won't go beyond this thread!
Punched in the face, huh? You guys take your Joe pretty serious...

Your little Vamp is going to look pretty damn sad when the Dragonfly reduces it to a pile of rubble, Feister.
Anyways...other Joes in the book? Well, Snow Job is front and center for all of it. Not much from anyone else. Scarlett and Dial Tone show up for a little bit. Oh, well, there is this one teeny tiny cameo from a Joe that has been talked about but has yet to be seen in the flesh in IDW's run. Klaus got to redesign him and everything. I don't want to spoil it (and it is a small small cameo), but I was glad to have him there. |

Those usually are the best, (Teeny Camoes I mean) Thanks for dropping in Merrill and Tom. When will it be on the website? I have to order my IDW.

I haven't purchased comics in years, but I'm really diggin' that cover and there's something about combat in arctic conditions that appeals to me. Think I'll pick this up.
