I just read an article over a ICv2 about how they are wondering is many non-comic Joe fans will jump at the FCBD editiona nd then continue on with the book.
Since a lot of the fans on here don't read comics, yet I bet most of you read the Joe book back in the 80's and early 90's. so for those fans only do you plan to pick up the book or not? |

One of the very first comic books I owned was gi joe #107.... this was back in the early 90's.... I still remember exactly what happened in that issue, so yes I will be picking up the series when it resumes.

I'd say no, because
1- they may not know about it unless they visit a site that mentions it 2- unless they were a fan of the old Marvel series, there's nothing to make them want to pick this up Interesting, the poll question is different from the thread topic.

No. I hate reading. I don't care. And they're too expensive.

And?
That's just a tease to those that can't afford them. Read it, love it, want to buy others but just can't afford it or the nearest store is out of the way, etc... It's a tease. No, the only people that this new series is being created for are ARAH fans that are comic book readers (the ones that already buy comic books and go to the stores).

The last comic book I bought was in the early 90s. I just started getting interested again with the Blackest Night Green Lantern saga. Hopefully, this will spark a bit more interest in Joe...

I think the problem is that, as far as I know, IDW does not have a subscription plan for their comics and GiJoe doesn't turn up at most Books A Million until the trades. So sadly like most point out only current comic fans who visit comic shops will even know about it.
Perhaps some smart comic retailers will push this to collectors and kids that the ARAH book returns and is free but I doubt it. If I was retailer I'd make a little display with my old figures and vehicles and advertise that the original story is resuming by joe creator Larry Hama. Perhaps a well name shop will get Hama to appear and sign books, but regardless I think you are mostly right in that not many old fans will pick this up especially since the last ARAH comic was what 1.50 and the next will be 3.99. |
