CC's final line in issue 41: "what a great system! If you have enough money and you can hire the best lawyers, you can do anything you want!"... sorta' reflects Hama's cynicism towards lawyers and bureaucrats, as this would become a recurring theme in the book. Make a deal, grease some palms, talk to the right people and --poof--- the fighting on the front lines is rendered moot.
Issue 40 was probably one of the best examples in the series of how to work in a buncha' toys and STILL tell an effective story. That whole issue is filled with such energy, as it's the type of story that little kids in the 80's would play out in their rooms. One question I've always had about the whole "Cobra Island" concept: it seemed to come out of nowhere, so I wondered if it was a Hasbro idea, or a Hama/Marvel idea.

...they did build up to it for a while, with the subplot with Candi the Balloon Bear's CG dad...

I'm talking more about the actual concept of Cobra Island. They seemed to have a great thing going in the comics with the "Springfield" concept as Cobra's base. I always suspected that; for cartoon purposes and what not; Hasbro wanted a more obvious base for the bad guys.
Like the way Skeletor had Snake Mountain-- an obvious, publicly-visible place where the bad guys hung out.

oh, sorry ~ yeah, i "got" what you meant, i just meant it was built up to a bit, not quite as sudden as like Serpentor that got dropped in in pretty much 1-2 issues (irrc) ~ i've actually wondered that myself: if Hasbro was ever toying with like a Cobra Island playset or something.

Do you know who drew the cover art for that issue? Issue 41 that is.

Never read the comics before. Is there any larger books you can get? As oppose to buying individual comics? I like to read stories in large chunks, not comic sized ones. Plus it would be too difficult to try and track down all the issues. Any suggestions?

IDW is currently coming out with the original 80s Marvel comics in tradepaperback form. They're grouping them together 10 issues per tpb. Volume 6 is being released tomorrow in comic book shops.

Thanks for the heads up. Would you say they are good reads? Or is there another storyline that you suggest?

These are definitely some of my favs as well. This story arc was fantastic.
I would definitely recommend getting these IDW releases. They're pretty cheap on Amazon, although I haven't checked recently to see if they're still available. I've enjoyed every minute I've spent reading these, especially volumes 4 and 5.
