maybe the upcoming toyline pursuit of cobra...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- will get idw to start using some toy accurate designs. i just bought the newest issue and the viper on adkin's cvr looked awesome, but not the one inside. and were those fangs and the mamba? c'mon, there's lots of toys that have great designs in this mythos. so far helix is about the only one that has been utilized. and some of the originals like duke, scarlett, and beach head. this is getting tiring. but i don't want roc, just so that's known. zartan better look cool.plus we could have used eels in the start of the tale and strato vipers piloting the fangs. i'm done for now. sales are going down, it couldn't hurt to link the properties various outlets a tad more. not too much. but a tad. and its fun. its why i bought helix.

I imagine, if there is indeed a cartoon series in the works, there will be an IDW series to coincide with it. Or even a suggested narrative from Hasbro.
They seem to be keeping a supply of movie continuity books coming, so I can see them jumping on the PoC bandwagon and chronicling the events in comics form.

It would be cool if IDW tied more in with toys (or toys tied more in with IDW), but realistically, how many of Hasbro's core kid audience reads them? I enjoy the IDW series so far - not perfect, but familiar yet new takes on characters. Much better than ROC.
I do hope that if there is a cartoon, it distances itself from the movie a bit. Problem would be too many continuities - ROC, IDW, Resolute and POC could all be different. Back in the day, Marvel vs Sunbow were very different and it worked out. But I think they may have too many now... |

I dunno...I think you have the main books for the purists, and the RoC movie tie ins for the mainstream. It's not really all that different than the Marvel/Sunbow days.
The only major difference is that there seems to be less Hasbro input in the comics, so it doesn't feel like a show and tell for new toys...with which I have a love/hate relationship. Half the fun of the old books was actually having the characters and vehicles featured on the page.

It was cool to see 'em, but it got annoying after awhile. No room to develop the characters and alot of vehicles and guys would make "one and done" appearances.

I am one of those knucklehead fans who just likes everything I guess. I buy anything with the GI JOE name on it and enjoyit for what it is. I don't need them to all relate to each other. I don't need more of one and less of the other. I loved Resolute. I liked the movie. I still love the original series. I read the Marvel comic. I read IDW comics. I buy the DTC stuff. To me, its all good. (except sigma six)

Yeah, I don't really need them to relate to eachother.
Let there be different universes and different takes on the property. More oppotunity for Hasbro to make money by making figures of 'em all. IDW RoC/PoC New Cartoon (which I think will be based on PoC) So really only 2 continuities.
