Physical tradepaperback only if I could open it flat and read without basically separating the pages from the spine.

I'm adamant about physical media when it comes to music and movies/TV. I can't do comics tho. I had a solid collection in college that I wound up losing when my apartment got broken into. Lots of Batman stuff that wasn't in print anymore was just gone, and there was no way I was going to be able to afford to replace it as a college student. Today, I probably could, but I'm so picky about comics that I strongly prefer first editions. I can't stand the "updated" Killing Joke artwork, for instance. So I had to switch to digital exclusively for reading. I've got it backed up on every smidge of digital storage I own. I can't really say I "prefer" it, but I'm okay with it.

the only preference i actually have that if there were ever a fire, my watchmen trade with the original dc bullet logo, my individual original crisis on the infinite earth issues and the trade with the original bullet logo, are all being thrown out of the window.
and if in a farenheit 451 situation where a certain group of people control the government and get rid of books and art, the book i will be will be the watchmen. i should probably read that book again. it's been a while. Last edited by THEDARKONE508; 04-18-2022 at 03:53 PM.. |

Digital. Physical comics are so expensive and precious now. I like TPB but if out of print they can also get expensive like Gi Joe classics number 3. And seriously my eyes are not what they were and with my ipad I can zoom in on the art, covers, etc.
I miss my old stack of comics. I have some special issues bagged but I rarely open and read them. I do miss the ads and back covers from the real comics.

I don't think there's anything wrong with digital comics, but physicals will always be there for you when you want to read them. With digital anything, all they have to do is "flip a switch" more or less and BOOM you don't have your movies/games/comics/music anymore. It happened with me on I-tunes once having some Castlevania soundtracks and then they took them away and replaced them with the Japanese soundtracks which are basically the same thing. I'm not paying for something that I already owned twice.

Physical. Digital/NFT art sucks for most old school collectors.

Digital. All my free space is being taken up by action figures. I don't have the room for long boxes of comics, anymore.
