The issue of the Marvel run just before he has a scrub SAW Viper kill off some great Joes. That's where I stop reading the series.

I kept reading the comics a couple years after I was done with Joe as a toy brand. (I stopped with the toys in 86) Issue #71 was where I finally dipped out completely.

Roger that. I think a lot of us that really love Joe kind of hit that great window. Wave 1 hit when I was 8 when I picked up issue #2 off the spinner rack at my newsstand, and it was truly an incredible time to be a kid. I dipped when I was 12 from Toys when I discovered wanting to impress girls, and playing music. I still enjoyed the stories for awhile, though.
Hasbro really seemed to lose focus of what made Joe great, imo. At least from the outside. They just started taking whatever else was popular at the time and started cramming it in there. It wasn't till I had a boy of my own who happened to turn 5 right when the 25th Anniversary line hit did I really start paying attention and get back in off an on. Really kind of a sweet spot again. My oldest and I loved the 25th Anniversary figures. We had Resolute. He and his little brother who came along really dug Renegades and that grew on me. The movies were disappointing, but eh. I read the IDW Cobra minis and loved them, and liked the beginning of the Dixon run. When Hama brought back ARAH it just seemed weird. I don't know why. I never got back into it. The media surrounding Joe was iffy at best given that the second film was also a disappointment and neither Resolute or Renegades continued. So my boys lost interest, and I just collected my Sideshows here and there. Once that line was abandonded I pretty much gave up on Joe for a long while. I just recently revived my Sideshow collection trying to track down figures I missed or passed on. The excitement around the Classified line is interesting to watch. The figures look great, but the roll out seems to be really bizarrely mismanaged looking at it from the outside.

None.
Do I like EVERY story line? No. But overall his story is still better than anyone elses. |

I'll be honest. I stopped reading when the art stopped looking like Rod Wingham. Issue 91 is where I finally couldn't take the art any more and gave up. Great story, still, but it was so hard to look at.
Now I know it was a real tragedy because all the stuff I'd been waiting years for started only a couple of issues later. Edit to add: To be clear, that is when I stopped THEN. Now I've gone back and re-read everything.
