A few years ago I would have said yes!! But after their recent turn, I really don't think they would want it. But what do I know!?

Yeah, Marvel is not doing a good job with their comics right now.

Marvel is now terrible, they would Sitterson the comic even more than he did. But the key issue is Disney owns Marvel and Hasbro does not want to get their IP mixed up even more than it is now. Better to give it to one of the Manga companies and do a Sunbow run, after all Sunbow was an anime in disguise.

While I have enjoyed some of the IDW content I will always regard the Marvel run as my universe, using IDW to fill in any gaps as I like, but I doubt Marvel could capture lighting in a bottle again, especially without the toy line and later carton to complete the landscape.

I’m not sure if IDW will be around much longer. They are hemorrhaging money themselves. I think they are worth like 41 mil and lost 39 mil last year, or something along those lines. Don’t quote me on the specific numbers but I think they are in dire straights. If they don’t get bought out on fire sale they will most likely not be around longer. Their investors voted to sell the company- but who’d buy it?
Marvel is really just living like a trust fund kid on Disney’s bank account. I don’t see Disney buying IDW to add to their troubles in the genre. If we all start saving our money I’d wager we could buy the license to GI Joe ourselves as a collective by this time next year. Sort of like how Green Bay owns the Packers. Then we could do actual liscenced fan fiction and print it for publication, LoL. Actually, anyone have any idea what the liscencing fee for Joe publications is? I’d be curious. Paramount should be almost done shitting all over the brand. Crowd funding comics seems to be the new thing.

Does IDW still have the rights to publish the old Marvel Joe/TF books? Some of their Classics trade paperbacks are going for a ton in the secondary market. Why wouldn’t they reprint more? Unless they no longer have the rights to.
