Ok, well I just went to Barnes and Nobel today and found a TPB entitled G.I. Joe written by Chuck Dixon. Now I know this is one of the new series of comics but I am confused as to how many of those comics are out. This one collected issues 1-7. Are there plans (or are they out yet) for the next issues? Thanks in advance.

Only 5, 6 are out. Weird.

Yup, that's what I have. I really like the artwork and it even has Flint in it! I want to get the 7-14 issues (when they are out in TPB) because they are pretty sweet so far.

7-14 haven't even been made in single issues yet.
Egads IDW pushed that book out early. Makes me wonder is this just to have product out in time for the film or are they pushing product before the film simply from bad response to the monthly book? |

Just got mine from Amazon yesterday. I haven't been following the response to the book, so I didn't know what to expect. I've liked some of Dixon's other work, but I heard he started the new series off with robots and teleportation machines - all the sci-fi/fantasy garbage we were supposed to be doing away with in the reboot!
I thought it was a mixed bag. Dixon's generally a good action writer, and he didn't disappoint in that department. I love how he handled Scarlett. Liked Brainstorm and the new Dial-Tone, too. (God knows this franchise needs more women!) But Hawk is just the cliche of a "gruff soldier," while Duke was wayyy too clueless, and most of the other Joes were pretty interchangeable. I was loving Destro until the very end, when he became Dr. Doom. And seriously, teleportation? All in all, it's not the mind-blowing experience I hoped it'd be, but still a better start than DDP had. I'm cautiously optimistic about volume 2.
