Does anyone have numbers on how IDW is doing? There was a member on Devils Due who would always post the sales numbers each issue. I am thinking Devils Due wasn't too thrilled about that, but it was interesting to keep track of the sales.

That's good to hear. I stopped collecting after DD ended, mainly because I have invested 25 years into the story line and a new start sounded like a bad idea. I may pick up an issue this summer though and give it a chance.

Thanks Jonathan! If I remember correctly, those numbers look pretty similar to what DD was doing towards the end of their run.

You're welcome rockstarfrank. =)

February - IDW sold 4.3% of the top 300 single issues sold in the US (fourth place behind Marvel, DC and Dark Horse), and took in 4.93% of $19.23 million (fourth place behind Marvel, DC and Dark Horse). March - IDW sold 5.1% of the top 300 single issues sold in the US (third place, behind Marvel and DC) and took in 5.01% of $17.8 million (third place, behind Marvel and DC). April - IDW sold 4.11% of the top 300 single issues sold in the US (fourth place, behind Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse) and took in 4.16% of $22.67 million (fourth place, behind Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse). I don't know what IDW's overhead is, but unless it's outrageous, seeing how they've outsold Image every month this year and even managed to outsell Dark Horse in March, I imagine they're doing fairly well and I wouldn't expect any of their continuing G.I. Joe titles to go under 'til after the movie. |

DDP's books got a spike at the very end (many series do, as final issues attract people for some reason). Prior to the 'death spike', America's Elite was selling just over 14k copies. That's not great, but it's respectable for a small company. As Jonathan pointed out, IDW's marketshare is at the highest levels it's ever been, and Joe books are a big part of that, so that's good for us.
IDW's Transformer titles are not currently selling nearly as many copies as the Joe books, and they're not going anywhere. Just remember, IDW has to pay the license fees to Hasbro every month regardless of whether they sell 1 copy or a million. Thus, they have incentive to keep publishing good stuff that sells. |

I think it helps that they are selling 2-3 different Joe issues a month. In March they sold a total of 60,000 in Joe titles alone. I am guessing that's not too shabby.
