Ok, a friend and I have been trying to dig up info on these, and hitting a major dead end. Comic Images has no back records, most comic shops don't see any need (not that I blame them) to save solicitation info that long, nothing.
Almost all pins are marked along the side "Comic Images Inc" with a Hasbro copyright date of 1987. I have three in my collection (one small round, one large round and one rectangular) with 1988 dates. So far we've found... 29 small pins (1.5 inch diameter)... 24 large pins (2.5 inch diameter)... And 17 panel pins (2 x 3 inches) Anybody out there have pins that neither of us have? Anybody out there sitting on any pins they want to get rid of (even if they are shown above)? Anybody have any more info on these, especially how many were released? |

Nothing substantial to add, but I remember Marvel had a trend of releasing pin sets in the late 80's. Usually sets of 5 or more would be sold on a small piece of cello-wrapped cardboard. I had a "West Coast Avengers" pin set (circa 1989) and prompted tossed it in a pile of unsorted crap, never to be found again.

I think those on the cardboard may have been produced by Comic Images also. I've never seen a G.I. Joe set carded, and due to the sheer number released I'm guessing that's not how these came. Lots of the other Marvel sets still carded on eBay.
