Cyclops was always a dick. It's just been a varying degree of how awesome a dick he is. But yes. Totally and unforgivably wasted in the movies.

Really I don't even think you can compare Cyclops with Colossus at all. Cyclops was a large part of the team in all the cartoons, video games, and movies. So what if he got killed a little early in X3. I'd take that for Colossus as opposed to the one line he got in the movie.

He's been my favorite X-Men since I got into the comic in the 80's!! I always felt a connection to him as I am "6'7" and 320! I was annoyed as hell when he got the shaft in the cartoons, video games, and movies!! When I ask younger fans about whether or not they like him, I get a blank stare followed by who's that? I hope he gets more then a line and actually gets to kick some serious ass!!

You mistake me, sir. Cyclops is arguably my favorite X-Man of all (certainly in my top 5), but just because a character is a stick-in-the-mud doesn't mean you can't like that character.

Most of my knowledge of the X-Men mainly comes from the 90s cartoon, but also the 80s 'Pryde of the X-Men' one-shot, and X-Men Evolution and I recall Colossus quite clearly despite his limited use. I also recall glancing thru enough comics from the 80s and 90s to recall him as well as the fact he appeared in a few of the Capcom fighting games of the 90s.
The 90s had the Blue and Gold teams, and to this day, those two teams are how I remember the X-Men best. Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue, Beast, and Psylocke. Storm, Jean Grey, Archangel, Iceman, Colossus, and Bishop. It's also how I recall a lot of other X-Men associates due to X-Force, Excalibur, and X-Factor at the time. I miss those days honestly as the comics nowadays are just a mess from what I've seen. If anything, Colossus had it easy for a while. I was excited to see him back in Astonishing after they killed him years before. The things they did to him later on now...the Phoenix Five thing and whatnot...ugh. Look at how screwed up characters like Bishop became or Jubilee. Heck, Wolverine is all kinds of 'What!?' now in comics. |

The reason he wasnt in the animated series back in the 90s was because that show more or less took the blue team that was the focus of the first year or so of jim lee's adjectiveless x-men series of which he, like iceman archangel and bishop, was not apart. So there is that.
also at the time the first movie came out colossus had just recently given his life for the legacy virus cure and thus wasn't in the comics at all.

I just saw 2 different commercials watching both NBA and WWE for Carl's Jr. tonight with Daniel Cudmore as Colossus. Is this a sign he will have a bigger role in Days of Future Past ? I've seen cameos of him in the trailers which seem a little promising. Does anyone have any info on the amount of screen time he will get this time around?

I would actually fix Colossus by explaining (yes, retconning) that he was actually possessed by a demon in a visit to Limbo..the demon somehow remained hidden from Illyana. the demon has progressively gotten more attached to Piotr's psyche and soul influencing him more and more over the years.... Strange and Illyana could get the demon out and cast/imprison him elsewhere, and 20 years of Colossus mish mash could be easily explained away......................the end.
