Okay Tankers, I have a long flight coming up in a couple months and I always like to have a couple trade paperbacks to pass some of the time.
This time, I'd like to have a G.I. Joe one. I see a ton listed on Amazon for good prices, but a lot of them don't say what issues are included. I have or have read pretty much everything from the Marvel line, (though I might pick up a Special Missions TPB if it has enough issues that I don't own). I (unfortunately) also have the complete run of Devils Due stuff. Hated that with a passion. So should I pick up the the IDW stuff that continues the Marvel run? How does that compare? I would love it if they had a TPB of the old Action Force comics. I saw something on YoJoe.com about them, but it made it sound like they were just reprints of the IDW stuff or something. Another thing I'd like to get is some sort of Justice League book. I really loved "Identity Crisis". The last one I got was "Final Crisis" and it really sucked. And I have a few of the JL from a couple years back after Hal Jordan was brought back. I'm thinking about picking up the first of the New 52 TPB's. But anything you can recommend featuring Hal Jordan or Oliver Queen would be appreciated. If I can get them on my iPad, it's even better. |

I'm currently reading all of Geoff John's GL run. That's some really good stuff. I especially liked Green Lantern Corps: Recharge, so that's my recommendation even though Hal isn't in it.
As for G.I.Joe, I'll recommend IDW's Cobra volume one. It's a must read for G.I.Joe fans. Also I shot you a PM about DDP stuff.

Yeah, I've got all the GL stuff from Reborn all the way through Brightest Day. Hal's always been my favorite superhero. If I can't settle on anything else, maybe I'll look for some old 70's GL stuff.

I'm partial to GI Joe Reloaded/Reborn series. AN interesting alternate take on the mythos

For Joe, if you like the Marvel run, then you should definitely get the IDW continuation series. It's good stuff. And as far as the Justice League is concerned, if you haven't already read Kingdom Come, I highly recommend it.

I would suggest the ARAH continuation from #156 on for your iPad.
I would also recommend picking up the Special Missions TPBs as well! |

I think I will try the ARAH continuation. I wasn't crazy about the last 50 or issues of the Marvel run, but it was still fun. And I did see that on iTunes so it won't be costing me any space in my carry on.
Kingdom Come was excellent. It's been so long since I read that, that I might have to find my copy and just take it. I'm really out of touch with the current stuff in DC. Mainly because their iPad app is horrible. They never had free issues. At least with the Marvel app they'll have new free issues ever week, even if a lot are lousy. I think I had a couple issues of the Cobra Reborn comic. I liked it better than anything else DDP did. |

I really enjoyed the JLA TPB's by Porter and Morrison from years back. Pre New-52 but awesome. Recommend:

Yeah, those were all great. Tower of Babel and The Obisidian Age are my two favorite. Thanks for reminding me about them though. I'll have to find my copies and give them another read.

I'm late posting this, but one of Amazon's deals of the day is Frank Miller and Chris Claremont's "Wolverine" in a Kindle edition for $1.99. An incredible deal for 144 pages worth of a great story. Just got it myself on the Kindle app for my ipad.
