I'm not a big comics fan, so forgive me if there's an obvious answer, but I'm wanting to read the Civil War crossover mini-series Marvel released awhile back. Problem is, I have no idea where to start. I see there's a Trade paperback here
Amazon.com: Civil War (Marvel Comics): Mark Millar, Steve McNiven: Books but there's also a prologue and an epilogue... are those in it? Does the TPB contain all the issues from each series involved? In other words, for those of you who've read it, where would you tell somebody brand new start? Thanks!

I think the Trade Paperback contains only the 7 main comics from the story arc. There is also the Frontline series, and almost every Marvel line, SpiderMan, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, X-Men, and I think that is it had stories that crossed over into it. The ones to read after would be SpiderMan and Captain America for sure.

Hopefully this link will work:
Midtowncomics.com :: Online Comics Store, Spiderman, Superman, Batman Comic Books and Toys If it doesn't show the CW checklist, select the checklist around the middle-right hand portion of the screen. I wanted to get on board with Civil War too, but I think it is a little too massive for my liking. I did purchase the Amazing Spider-Man TPB tie-in, though, since that is supposedly the "best" Civil War TPB. Happy reading! Dave |

There's a TON of extra books that wrap in.
You really only need the 7 main books and probably the Fallen Son mini-series to get the gist of it all.

Oh yeah, those 3 Amazing Spider-Man books are vital as well.
You realy only need the Civil War books. The rest aren't integral to understanding the storyline and are really the characters of those books and their parts in it, or how they intermix with the main storyline. But you read the 7 Civil War issues and you'll get it. I started reading 'em all and gave up around CW #3 and didn't miss out on any of the story. The Fallen Son mini-series is pretty vital as well.

They did make a DVD rom with every crossover issue of Civil War and House of M. I got mine for $40 when they first came out. Looks like they are a lot more now (see link below), but I'm sure you could find one and its the cheapest way to get everything.
