Finally got my copy and thoroughly enjoyed the artwork. The stories seem headed in the right direction--more realism, more character depth. However, I was a little annoyed when Roadblock was referred to as Heavy Duty in the interview section. He's clearly talking about Roadblock v2, and the editor should have caught that or made a note if indeed they are morphing these two characters.

I liked what I read..it's too early to judge the series based on a preview and decide either way.

Still too early to tell.
The art on most of it is a letdown, though. |

actually my theory is: with the new movie coming and the new comic series (which has stated will include the character heavy duty), that Hasbro and IDW are trying to merge Roadblock into Heavy Duty for some reason. Wondering if it is a name rights issue like some other characters from Joe are experiencing.
There's an interview floating around somewhere that addressed the name change. If I remember correct, they did say there was a rights issue with Roadblock. |

I really like the feel of where they are going with it. The modernization is blended in really well, but it was just a good tease really. I will be anxiously awaiting the introduction of Cobra.

To be honest, the worst part about it was Hama's story, which was very disappointing. the art was good, but the portrayal of Duke and Hawk was bad... just plain bad.
Dixon's story was good albeit the dialog was a little cheesy. The art was great and I really like the more realistic character design. I missed Flint's beret, but then again, what commando wears a beret in combat? other than Magnum P.I. ? The Chuckles story was good - very solid. The art was gritty and it had a good feel to it. I've always felt that this kind of take on G.I. Joe was overlooked. A good spy story is a natural fit.

I enjoyed it myself. I remember reading the comics when I was younger and wondering why Hawk had blonde hair and not brown like the tv show. I prefer Hawk with brown hair. I'm looking forward to all the books but Cobra in particular.

I got it a few weeks back....
I'm looking forward to it.. The only thing is I hate teasers!!!!! Gimme a damn comic now! I dont want to wait another 2 months... I would like to know how they could have a problem with Roadblocks name? What kinda copyright would there be? Also, they best keep Scarlett and S/E in the same likeness. That story has always worked, and now with making it modern, it woulds be interesting... I'm looking forward to it....
