Hey guys, long-time lurker, first-time poster.
I grew up with G.I. Joe. I had a friend who was about a year older than me who got the comics and let me read them second hand, as long as I gave them back to him. So I read all the stories up through #51, when he stopped his subscription to the comics because he was "too old." That brings me to my current dilemma. With the release of the 25th Joes, the announcement of the movie, and the GI Joe Resolute cartoon, I have gotten all nostalgic. Yeh, from the time I was 14 until 32, I'd watch the occasional cartoon, but no where near the enjoyment of my childhood. What I have a question about is the comic books themselves. Not someone's review of them. Is there any way to get the books, not concrete copies for me to store in my attic with all my GI Joe stuff, but a way to read them all without having to buy the original comics? Is there a collection of them in book form somewhere or online possibly? Thanks in advance. |

IDW, the company that is going to be doing the new G.I. Joe comic will be releasing the entire Marvel comics run (the one you read as a kid) in trade paperback form (6+ issues in a single bound volume).
Devil's Due Publishing also has trade paperbacks of their various Joe comics as well. Look on the websites for the two publishers for how to buy/order the trade paperbacks. I don't think the IDW ones of Marvel's run are out yet.

if so, yes there are, and no we can't talk about it, or tell you how to get them. aside from that, welcome to the tank.

Yeah, I know someone that has the entire collection (except Devil's Due America's Elite #25) in digital format.
If you know how to get stuff offline, then you can figure out how to get 'em that way.

I wasn't talking about piracy, sorry I didn't realize that was what I was suggesting by saying concrete versions. I meant a "legit" online gallery of the comic books, not anything pirated.
The post about trade paperbacks is what I originally meant; however, the concrete part I meant the actual comics themselves. I have enough stuff resting in my attic without adding 155 comic books! Thanks for the responses, sorry to cast a negative light on my first post. |

From a Q&A session with IDW, they were asked about their reprints:
NRAMA: Chris, IDW is going to be reprinting all of the original Marvel GI Joe stories, correct? When can fans expect to be able to pick these trades up? CR: We'll have a number of the books out early in '09. These won't just be scanned reprints, either, they'll be nice, vibrant presentations of this classic material. And we have special things planned for some of the material, like the Michael Golden Yearbook 2 story, which will be getting some extra handling to really make the re-presentation of it special. There's a really cool Marvel set I've seen on DVD complete with easter eggs and 3D glasses. Rumor has it a full run of the DDP series is in the works as we speak.
