This series kick started the long dormant Joe series that Marvel ended a decade earlier. The series as a whole was okay but Image DID some things that did not set to well with Joe fans (Lady J,s death for example). The one thing they did do right was continue the continuity from the original Marvel run. Sit back and enjoy these covers from the series that gave Joe a much needed shot in the arm.
Here is a brief into that was told on another site: Devil's Due Studios acquired the rights to produce the G.I. Joe comic series in 2001, starting with a four issue, bi-monthly series published through Image Comics. With issue five, the series went to a monthly shipping schedule. This series considered Volume 2 continued the story of the characters created in the Marvel run by Larry Hama In January of 2004, issue #26, Devil's Due left Image Comics and began publishing independently as Devil's Due Publishing (DDP). The first 25 issues were written by Josh Blaylock, DDP's owner. Starting with issue #26 Brandon Jerwa took over as writer until the finish of the series. Thanks to Yo Joe and Previews for this information. Quick Access Guide 1-10 |

Destro assumes control of Cobra, while Cobra Commander is driven insane. Questions arise as to the identity of this "Destro." New recruits are added to the Joe team, and the invasion of the Dreadnok Compound is started.
