The DDP run was so hit and miss for me. I really liked the book up through the Serpentor run, but then it sort of went off the rails.
I remember America's Elite starting out pretty terrible, but getting good leading into WWIII just to end. I used to buy two copies of each DDP issue, so I could show off the excellent pinup art on the back cover as well. I lost all my Joe comics in a flood a few years back, so I have really been digging the collected reprints, and am looking forward to a DDP run of those as well. |

The Disavowed TPB series is the DDP run. I think they are up to volume 4 by now. I think once they finish that, they will reprint America's Elite. The original TPBs are pretty expensive.

I was a big fan of the DDP run. I didn't start until America's Elite came out and I loved it. Then, I worked my way backwards and finished the rest of the DDP stuff. It was ok, but not near the quality of the AE series. The declassified stories were always pretty decent.

I've been trying to find an affordable copy of the WWIII Omnibus for a couple of months ago and come across nothing. Where/how did you get yours?

I like what I've read from DDP and IDW. Glad Joes back.

I agree that without DDP we might never have seen the 25th stuff, but it's hard to say. I own ever issue of the DDP run... I read it every month, and I liked most of the "Frontline" run as well. Overall, however, I wasn't crazy about the DDP run. It was a mixed bag - we got some cool characters, but the writing wasn't all that great. In those first 4 issues especially, I don't care for the art or the dialog.

I also know that DDP had GI Joe books for sale during Comic-Con. However, I remember it was very limited and they didn't have their own booth. Essentially DDP had a bookcase and shared it with another small press publisher. Seeing that was pretty sad because 3 years ago they had a major booth and had huge banners at Comic-Con. |
