I paid £40 for a near mint #155 around 5 years ago while the McFarlane special set me back a tenner. Personally I didn't like his art in it at all, much prefering the 'original'. Unless you're a completist, I wouldn't bother with that one.

Yes I do. All I'm missing is the third issue of the Starduster mini-comic, so if anyone has that, I'll be your best friend.

The hardest I would say (just like everyone else) is #155 then #154, #153 follow very close behind.
G.I. Joe Special #1 (that is on my avatar) is also a tough one to get. And just to get the story right, that issue is a version of G.I. Joe issue #61 that was drawn by Todd McFarlane but was scrapped by Marvel due to issues with Todd. Once Todd left Marvel and became the huge name he became, Marvel released the book with a cover NOT drawn by Todd but by another artist and it was done in homage to Todd's Spiderman covers. I was gonna get my copy signed by Todd in Chicago few weeks ago but when I got cut down to 1 item signed instead of the 3 I was supposed to get, I ended up picking another book that got signed by him instead. Kinda regret that move now. |

The issues of the comic that were difficult for me to find were the Marvels #2, #4 (the hardest) and the Special #1 with McFarlane cover. [I cracked up laughing when I saw the cover on YoJoe dot com side by side with one of the famous McFarlane Spider-Man covers. Didn't realize Snake-Eyes was in a Spidey-style pose.]
Even though I found #2 in a slightly beat-up condition, it is an ACTUAL first printing version! #4 was THE hardest one for me to find but it helped complete my collection so I am super happy. I paid the most for the Special #1 but it was still within reason. Even managed to get a 2nd copy for a friend as a gift. Kamakura Supporting the Joe team since 1983 |

I followed the Marvel series, religiously, since its inception. But for whatever reason I missed issue #134 when it came out (the blow-off to the Firefly storyline). I was gong through my collection, about two years, and discovered this gap. Tried to find it on eBay and what not, with no luck. One day, just about a year ago, I was at a random comic shop and found it in NM condition for $2.50.
I remember buying the "Special Edition" out of loyalty, back in 1994. For anyone who doesn't have it: don't worry...it's no great shakes. The art's more than a little disorganized. The Spider-Man homage on the cover is probably the best part. I think the Special Edition goes for a hefty price simply because it had a low distribution run. In 1994, after the big speculator implosion of 1993, Marvel, DC and others began to cut down distribution on several low-selling books.
