Devil's Due will be publishing the Corps. comic this year based on the toy made by Lanard. Found that out today at Wizard World Chicago. The basic plot is that some rich guy assembles a team to do jobs that governments can't do. Could be interesting considering there is no real story behind the Corps. toys.

The cover looks pretty cool. I'll check out the comic, when it's released.

with a reboot confirmed at WW comic convention this is actually more appealing to me now
I say way to go Devils Due the only thing is why go after a license/ comic like this that has very little fan base and not go after something like ACTION MAN which has a worldwide appeal and is at least a little more popular than Corps heck even C.O.P.S. would be bigger probally either case Im a bit excited about this, I hate the toys but this does interest me. Probally will pick this up instead of the Joe reboot to be honest be nice to see what DDP can do without the restrictions of Hasbro on a Military book |

So basically, Hasbro yanks away the GI Joe property from DDP, so DDP decides to do a comic based on the most notorious of GI Joe knock off toys. Hilarious!
But I am curious about this, I noticed Corps did a fairly extensive revamp earlier this year, even adding villians for the first time in years. I can't help but wonder if Lanard is actually making an effort to go beyond its status as a copycat company. But then I remember they market their figures at Walmart and Dollar General at $2 a piece.

You know, I always thought someone should do a CORPS! book. Even sat on a concept myself, but never pulled the trigger.
The names were cheese, and the designs were a little generic, but I didn't mind them too much. Back in the day, they filled out my troop numbers and were the guys who actually died when I played as a kid. The Construction /Firemen/ Police sets made great civilian figures. They got a little better over the years. I really dig the art on the new ones...I think it's by comic artist Francis Leinil Yu. I'll give it a shot. But yeah, it is a MAJOR step down from GI Joe for DDP. Who knows? They might be able to pull off a miracle, and Ranger Rick and company might be the hottest selling figures EVER next year! |

its a good move on both DDP and Lanards part, I just hope Lanard takes advantage of this and helps promote the book on thier toys
right now there is nothing on thier website which is moronic hopefully theyll do comic packs or at least have a Comic ad on the packaging I still wont buy the toys LOL but it would be beneficial to both Companies to do as much cross brand promotion as possible This is actually much better than trying to start a whole new comic that is completely unknown to EVERYONE ( see the circle- by image, a great fun read if you havent) heres hoping DDP can make a go with it |

this seems like an utterly ridiculous attempt to 'cash in" on losing G.I.Joe, but Rick Remender is a good writer... link: http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080630-ddpPanel.html (mods, i thought this was close enough to Joe newsworthy, but i'm sure you'll kick it to 'Comics' if it's not)
