I've been enjoying the new series through te TPBs (For all Mankind and International Incident) and the All Hail Megatron series that I guess came before that. I just picked up Last Stand of the Wreckers, which everyone raves about, although I haven't started reading it yet.
I see that there is another IDW series from before this again, and I am considering getting started collecting it. Amazon.com: Transformers: The IDW Collection Volume 1 (9781600106675): Simon Furman, Eric Holmes, Shane McCarthy, Nick Roche, Alex Milne, E.J. Su, M. D. Bright: Books A couple of questions - um a bucnh of question, actually: 1 Is this series in any way related storyline-wise to the original Marvel series from the '80s, or is it a complete reboot? 2 Does this other IDW series happen before the events of AHM, or is it a completely separate unrelated continuity? 3 This may sound like a silly question, but is there content in these books that I already have if I have the four AHM TPBs? I'm thinking of the spotlights in particular. 4 I know that lots of fans complained about this series because it goes back and forth timewise a lot, are there any other major complaints? 5 Just how long was this series? IDW have 3 books out already, with a fourth one coming in June. Is this the whole series (I'm tring to figure how muych it will cost for me to collect the whoel series)? 6 And if the fourg volume does not complete the series, how many more will there be, and can one reasonably assume that they will in fact complete the series of these hardcover books? thanks |

After years of analysis and scientific research, we have finally found Troy's comic book blind spot.
He still remains an expert on all things Rex Morgan related, however. On topic: Sorry, can't answer your questions, Stormgard. I read the occassional IDW TF book, but mostly for the art. I jettison all continuity the second I close the book and usually retain nothing. It's the only thing that allows me to enjoy them without getting mired in the minutae of the TF Universe. |

Fair enough, thanks. Perhaps I should see what the people over on TWF2005 have to say.
Interesting approach to continuity, you may be onto something there. The whole point is to enjoy these things, right ;) |

No the idw books have nothing to do with the original marvel runs. 2. All the idw collections vols. 1-5 reprint every issue of the main tf book, since Idw started with tfs. They are a suggested reading order series. Meaning the issues are not in order of their release dates. These come before ahm and in vol. 5 ahm will be printed again. 3. Some the spotlights that are part of the ahm have been reprinted in the previous vols. Of the idw collections. As for ur other questions I had no complaints, but others do. I like having the hardcover collections even though I have all the single issues. The idw collection series is supposed bring everyone up to speed in the idw universe. Not sure if they will collect the ongoing series, the bumblebee mini, iron hide mini, drift mini, and last stand of the whreckers mini into these collections eventually. But since u have the ahm, and the ongoing series in tpb form already u will not need to by those vols when and if they come out in the hardcover collection form. U may want to ask more knowledgeable tf comic people on the idw forums. Just trying to help a fellow tanker out. |

I'm pretty sure Bumblebee and Ironhide are available in collected already.
Now I've bought all the single issues and personally I like the run so far, BUT my biggest complaint is order...they really didn't give the best outline as to where everything takes place. I do have a tentative list but as others have pointed out some of this list is still not exactly nailed down, but I placed things as best as I could with the help of some others... -Megatron: Origins #1 – 4 -Spotlight: Blurr -Spotlight: Shockwave -Spotlight: Jazz -Spotlight: Cliffjumper -Spotlight: Wheelie -Spotlight: Sixshot -Spotlight: Hot Rod -Spotlight: Soundwave -Spotlight: Ultra Magnus -Spotlight: Nightbeat -Infiltration: #0-6 -Stormbringer #1-4 -Spotlight: Kup -Escalation: #1-6 -Spotlight: Ramjet -Spotlight: Galvatron -Spotlight: Optimus Prime -Spotlight: Blaster -Spotlight: Arcee -Devastation: #1-6 -Spotlight: Mirage -Spotlight: Grimlock -Spotlight: Cyclonus -Spotlight: Hardhead -Spotlight: Doubledealer -Spotlight: Sideswipe -Maximum Dinobots: #1-5 -All Hail Megatron #15 story A: ‘Everything in its Right Place’ -Drift #1-4 (mini series) [NOT CLEARLY DEFINED WHEN IT TAKES PLACE JUST SOMETHING BEFORE SPOTLIGHT: DRIFT] -Spotlight: Drift -All Hail Megatron #15 story B: ‘Lost Found’ -Spotlight: Metroplex -All Hail Megatron #1-14 -All Hail Megatron #16 -Transformers: Continuum -Spotlight: Prowl -Last Stand of the Wreckers #1 -Transformers: Ongoing #1 -Last Stand of the Wreckers #2-3 -Transformers: Ongoing #2 -Last Stand of the Wreckers #4 -Transformers: Ongoing #3-4 -Bumblebee #1-4 -Transformers: Ongoing #5-6 -Last Stand of the Wreckers #5 -Ironhide #1-4 [NOT CLEARLY DEFINED WHEN IT TAKES PLACE BEST GUESS BUT CLEARLY AFTER ONGOING #1] -Transformers: Ongoing #7-17 -Hearts of Darkness: #1 [NOT CLEARLY DEFINED WHEN IT TAKES PLACE BEST GUESS DURING ONGOING] -Transformers: Ongoing #18 -Hearts of Darkness: #2 [NOT CLEARLY DEFINED WHEN IT TAKES PLACE BEST GUESS DURING ONGOING] Last edited by Owner of a Lonely B.A.T.; 04-29-2011 at 08:01 PM.. |

All minis I stated already have their own tpbs already. Now will they be collected in the idw collection hardcover series is unknown. All we know now is that everything up to and including all hail megatron will be in these collections. All hail megatron will also be released in a complete hardcover form 1-12, the 4 issue coda serries plus the spotlights in june or july. Idw collection vol.5 will only have all hail megatron 1-12 and the 4 issues of coda(issues 13-16) which will be released in november.

Owner of a lonely bat, that is a very good list. It is really accurate up to the latest releases. Good job in compiling that list.
I just really enjoy reading the tf storys and don't get caught up in the order to much. |
