Aside from Cobra #12, I have been able to stay caught up with all of the IDW titles, and, for the ones that share the same ontinuity (GI Joe, Origins, Cobra, Hearts and Minds, and now Infestation) I have been keeping them in order of release. This works for me but whenever I loan them out for others to read them, they usually struggle because of the jumping around. Anyone have a good list of issues in the order that you'd suggest reading them?
I'd also be open to the same kind of thing for the old marvel and devils due runs. Thanks |

Honestly no.
I've read them all and have tried to come up with a good reading order and its just pretty hard to tell where certain stories take place...for instance Origins: Ripcord....could be before issue #1 being its an Origin story...but it also could simply be anywhere during the run as well just a side story. For me I just keep them in the order they were released...I had to check the inside covers to see which months they were released because some times due to publishing schedules months are skipped. But pretty much I went with the 0 issue first then G.I. Joe #1, then Origins #1 the Cobra #1, and went from there. |

yeah, keeping them in order of release is the best way to go.
On a side note, I'm not sure Hearts And Minds actually falls into the main continuity. Just stick to the other 3 titles. (including the specials) |

If you are saying it could take place before the main title #1, then yeah...you're right. There's no reason to read Origins around the same time as the other titles. It doesn't hurt to though. There's not really anything that synchs up with the other titles except the Zartan origin and perhaps the mad Monk story at the end of the run (maybe, we'll see on that one) |

Also I'd like to mention there's one big flaw with the main title and the Cobra title.....for whatever reason Hawk sends Chuckles to infiltrate Cobra at the beginning of that title, but for a good part of the main books run he doesn't even believe there is a Cobra organization until like issue 11 or 12 which completely means Hawk knew the whole time and kept harrassing Joes that Cobra DIDN'T exist or the writers simply never put that little problem together. Either way it would make the events of the Cobra story in the zero issue and the Cobra series all take place AFTER Hawk is finally convinced Cobra is real. |

I'm hopin' they do an "The IDW Collection" for their Joe-verse like they did for their transformers comics. Very nice way to read them, and puts things in pseudo-reading order.

Okay did a little pouring through the IDW books and here's is my best suggestions for reading order...
Keep in mind, MOST of the origins stuff has no identifable time frame but because its an Origins series and Cobra is NOT featured as protagonist in most stories I assume its before the setting of the main title. Also Infestation no real time frame is hung on it, but I put it in close to publishing date and around where Baroness was used in the main books. G.I. Joe IDW comics Order II Origins #0 “In or Out” Origins: 1 Origins: 2 Origins: 3 Origins: 4 Origins: 5 Origins: 6 Origins: 7 Origins: 8 Origins: 9 Origins: 10 Origins: 11 Origins: 12 Origins: 13 Origins: 14 Origins: 15 Origins: 19 Origins: 20 Origins: 21 Origins: 22 Origins: 23 G.I. Joe #0 “One Word” Cobra #0 "Deep Cover" Origins: 16 (pgs 1-15 during G.I. Joe #0) G.I. Joe #1 Origins: 16 (pgs 16-22 during G.I. Joe #1) Cobra #1 G.I. Joe #2 Origins: 17 (pgs 1-5 during issue 2) Cobra #2 G.I. Joe #3 Cobra #3 G.I. Joe #4 Cobra #4 G.I. Joe #5 G.I. Joe #6 G.I. Joe #7 G.I. Joe #8 G.I. Joe #9 Cobra Special #1 Origins: 17 (pgs 6-22 sometime prior to issue 10) Origins: 18 G.I. Joe Special #1: Helix G.I. Joe #10 G.I. Joe #11 G.I. Joe #12 G.I. Joe #13 G.I. Joe #14 Cobra II #1 G.I. Joe #15 Cobra II #2 G.I. Joe #16 Cobra II #3 G.I. Joe #17 Cobra II #4 G.I. Joe #18 Cobra II #5 G.I. Joe #19 Cobra II #6 G.I. Joe #20 Cobra II #7 G.I. Joe #21 Cobra II #8 Cobra Special #2 G.I. Joe #22 Cobra II #9 G.I. Joe #23 Cobra II #10 G.I. Joe #24 Cobra II #11 G.I. Joe: Infestation #1 (Best guess based on publication and where Baroness is in the main title story) G.I. Joe: Infestation #2 (Best guess based on publication and where Baroness is in the main title story) G.I. Joe #25 G.I. Joe #26 G.I. Joe #27 (pgs 1-20) Cobra II #12 Cobra II #13 G.I. Joe #27 (pgs 21-22) |

Hearts and Minds really doesn't fit in well in the IDW-verse so far as I can tell.
And I haven't read Tales from the Cobra Wars so I don't know if that fits at all. |

Thanks for doing this. I'm debating if I should get into this or not. It all looks pretty confusing then throw in the 3 new civil war titles. wow. I have stuck with ARAH. Is it even worth while spending the coin and getting into it? Also could you update your list to reflect the 3 new civil war titles? Thanks for your help. You don't even know!
