The books are fascinating, if not a bit chaotic on which characters are going to be in what volume. I imagine printing a lower production count in full color, and at the larger size, adds up in a hurry.
Man, I'm glad someone said this. I have self-published four books through KDP. So, I know that there are less expensive routes to take in publishing that do not even involve Kickstarter. It is simply "print on demand." The content of the books are nice, but $40 each is kind of pricey, and as a post-grad student, I buy (have bought through my academic career) a lot of books. I wonder since these are "under official license from Hasbro" if he has to pay royalties for using the images. If so, then that might better explain the price point.
It would be super nice if these were available as a PDF for a fraction of the cost. As a Joe fan, I'm not so much worried about adding these books to my physical library as I am just having the content available. I would actually prefer a digital form where I could zoom the page to look closer at some of the drawing details.
Maybe he could offer a Volumes 1-11 PDF bundle. Just a thought.
Jason
