To be brutally honest I legit don't see why any hypothetical ninja clan that exists today wouldn't adopt firearms in addition to their more traditional weapons. SMGs have gotten ridiculously small and potent, and when you're rocking something like a P90, you have a ridiculous capacity as well. It's not like suppressors aren't a thing either.
I mean, during the rule of Nobunaga guns became a core weapon that both samurai and ashigaru were actively trained in. In the Battle of Nagashino in 1575, 3000 Nobunaga gunmen destroyed the powerful and much feared Takeda cavalry, utterly trashing the formerly powerful clan and eliminating Nobunaga's last obstacle to ruling Japan. Duruing the 1592 Japanese invasion of Korea, a full quarter of the 160,000 Japanese warriors sent to Busan were armed with Tanegashima. The utter shock of guns was so successful in those early days that Japan had taken Seoul in just 18 days after the initial invasion.
So guns and Japanese warfare are literally tied hip to hip. For a hundred or so years it literally invalidated the need for Samurai to learn archery. Leave archery to the Ashigaru. Samurai trained extensively in the usage of Tanegashima as well as their other weapons. It's very plausible that any hypothetical ninja clan would modernize and use technological advancements to be even better at their craft.
Bricks in purses disapprove
