I tried glass, I used the magnetic sheet it came with but this, THIS steel shit prints so smooth and no need for glue or anything. Check it out!
EDIT: also just printed a head with a .25 nozzle and other prusa settings. Came out pretty close to resin. Let me do some other testing
Gotcha. I'm lazy when it comes to fighting with print bed leveling and adhesion issues. This is partly because I'm cheap and I don't want to add a consumable such as painters' tape or adhesive to the process and partly because I don't want to add a cleaning and prep job to the process. So what I typically do is level the bed leaving the z stepper slightly on the low side to get reliable adhesion and I just allow some elephant foot on my prints as a result. Then, I peel up one corner of the flexible magnetic plate at a time and release the print from that corner then lay it back down. That way I don't have to fight the magnetic bad back into alignment or re-level the bed very often at all. I also no longer use the scraper at all for print removal and that has helped increase the longevity of my print surface. I am typically able to print dozens of jobs over a period of weeks or months before having to re-level the print bed. Then, for the parts themselves, I just smooth the elephant foot off of the edges with a razor knife by scraping it backward along the elephant foot areas. It's relatively fast and easy work - less work than the prep and cleanup for other methods needed to avoid the elephant foot in the first place - and the only cost is the tiny bit of filament I end up whittling away at the end.
It's a "brute force" tactic but I almost never have a failed print, particularly due to adhesion issues. My most common issue is a support section coming loose before it can be used when I have supports between printed areas but that's still rare and it has to do with my slicer settings. I leave a large z spacing on the bottom layer of support interface to make support removal easier and to minimize scarring on the surface beneath the supports, so it's a risk I take on purpose. Anyway, I could blather on about this further, but I guess the main point is that adhesion hasn't been a source of much stress or worry for me. I'm far more interested in print quality (surface finish), print resolution (fine detail), and print speed (let me have high-quality/high-detail prints very quickly). If I'm going to make a leap into a new printer model it's those three specific things that would push me toward making a change.
Anyway, post some pics, man!
