What is it about Zartan that just says "this guy would make a good leader to a biker gang."
I can see Cobra employing a biker gang, what better way to have people roam the states stirring up trouble and not being noticed? They come to town and cause issues, it's a biker gang, that's what they do. No one is going to go "omg, this gang must be funded and working for a worldwide terrorist organization".
So how did Zartan get them? Yeah, I know the comics explained it. But the toys came first, so how did Zartan become the leader of the Dreadnoks?
He sure as hell doesn't look like a biker gang leader.
I think Hasbro blew a perfect chance to create another character, the Dreadnok Leader, and also to make better figures for Zarana and Zandar (instead of trying to tie their looks into the Dreadnoks).
It's hard to say why Zartan became the leader. He is depicted as this backwoods, living-in-the-bayou type, but he doesn't quite fit in perfectly. However, Zarana does have more of a dreadnok quality. Zartan is an enigma, a master of disguise and an adept assassin. His intelligence also makes him a natural leader, so he may have been a natural choice as the leader of the dreadnoks. Who else was going to take on that gang of misfits? Copperhead maybe?
