Its now referred to as Toxic Fandom. Here is a link that explains it better than I can. Please consider watching AND LISTENING, and consider the affect and effect your words can have on a person, a profession, and a brand. Why would anyone want to support, promote, and further a brand if every attempt they make draws such harsh/cutting/destructive feedback.
If you want more examples, look no further than Star Wars fans, and the vicious response to the new movies. Reflecting back on our own community, look at the division between cartoon series, comic publishers, and movies. O-Ring and Modern Era. Live Action Movie and our expectations. We have our own Toxic Fans.
Again, I am not saying opinions are worthless. I am not advocating censorship, and by no means am I advocating a loss of your "freedom of speech". I am asking that you just consider other aspects of the thing you want to rage against, and be reasonable, responsible, and mature. Offer constructive views and suggest improvements. as one Hisstanker said: At least we can look at new product in 2019 (The Final 12).

I love this brand, this hobby, and the warm nostalgia it brings to me from my childhood, and the childhood of my son and daughter. Fighting for our hobby doesn't need to be an all or nothing, my way or the highway, scorched earth effort. Lets be positive, constructive and participative: rather than tear down a figure, offer an alternate formula, maybe even make a custom and share it.
Personal leadership is difficult in our times. Taking the high ground is a challenge. Being a good person is rare. We are a different breed, as GI Joe enthusiasts. Lets show people just how good.
Keep the faith... Yo Joe!
There is a lot of validity in what you are writing. However, when specifically referring to Star Wars I think it’s only fair to point out that while many fans did not enjoy some of the newer films the toxicity festered from many high profile Lucas Film people of labeling people who did not enjoy the films as racist and or sexist. BOTH side could have chosen their words better and kept the arguments from getting personal but LF/Disney basically made blanket statements against large groups of fans simply for not liking a hugely unpopular film.
There is no shortage of nerd rage and nerd entitlement on all fan boy sites. But if you attack your fan base or throw labels around you can’t complain when your base turns on you. Many fans who did not enjoy the new films have come out and said that they can tolerate a bad film but will not tolerate being labeled as something they are not because they didn’t like something.
