Here it is, the long awaited stop motion collection thread! Every day this month, I'll post one of my stop motions with a little back story on the production of the film. Let me first start off by telling a little about my history with stop motions...
Inspired at a young age by many Christmas specials such as 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer' and 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town', I became curious about stop motion quite early on. I often asked my parents how these films were done, and they told me that it was done with lots of patience and time. Being 5 years old, with little to no patience, I lost interest quickly.
But interest sparked again in many years later when I first witnessed the insanity that is
'Robot Chicken.'
This time around, I was much more patient. I gathered up my favorite action figures, and prepared to make an epic movie! I soon found out, however, that making stop motion films required lots of professional equipment and computer programs, which is something I absolutely did not have. But that didn't stop me from experimenting. Fiddling around with my dad's camcorder, I found that hitting 'record' and 'pause' really fast made quick snippets of recording. This was my chance. This was the beginning of my stop motion adventure. Many films were made with the old camcorder, and many of them were terrible, to say the least.
A few years after that, I began looking more into stop motion, and what exactly I needed in order to make better stop motions. I found various programs that were made for stop motions alone, but they came with a pricetag. So, like any person, I tried to find the cheapest ways to make good films. Using Windows Movie Maker, I made my first
real
stop motion. The film starred Snake Eyes, pulling out and shooting various weapons.
(NOTE: This stop motion cannot be showed because I did not realize that my 3 year-old nephew was playing in the background. My family won't allow his image to be put onto the internet.)
So excited I was, I began planning my first stop motion project.
This is where I will begin the process of 'Stop Motion Posts'...
