Toy Fair 2014 Toys R Us Exclusive GI Joe 50th Anniversary Collection
Cobra Terrorist:
SWEEEEET! New Joe product!

I don't even care that most of it is re-release/re-molds. I am so happy right now!

My favorites out of those pics?

HEAT Viper
Viper
That VAMP in digital camo looks great.
Arctic SkyHawk
Night Viper repaint. Who is that anyway?
Darkfire:
Only upset that V2 Stormy, Gung Ho, Cobra Officer, Stinger Driver, and the others did not make it out of the Vault. Other than that, I am very happy.
Shabang:
Half of these new joes are great and all but WHERE THE HELL IS THE 88 STORM SHADOW???
I know it's super early to piss and moan but holy crap I've wanted a good new version of that Storm Shadow forever. I hope he shows up by Joecon.
Xerofall:
I like how Beachhead is looking at the Cobra Trooper pointing his pistol at the Viper like, WTF?
46 Zone:
Ok. So it's official. They are TRU exclusives. Hopefully, these will be available on the TRU website cause that's the only place we will ever see them. Even though I can get to a few TRU's in town, you pretty much have to be lucky to find anything there. Once a new case is discovered, the figs disappear pretty quickly. Now what was my TRU login PW?
zpartikuz:
i hope rock n roll and gung ho makes it out of the vault as well!
serch:
Finally the heat viper is coming, i hope they start bringing them to the stores again..
hguzmanq:
Very nice figures after all. Love the artic vehicles.
WildWeaselZ06:
Yeah, that's my only concern with TRU exclusives. They seem to show up once and then never again.

There's still hope, maybe later this year or next year.
tuan_tran73:
Will these be made????? or it will be canceled again due to no stores wanted to carry Joes?

I wouldn't be upbeat this time until I see it at the stores. Just like Night Viper... never see him.
soundwave810:
Hoping that new Destro has money in the suitcase, missed the Resolute one.
Cross Country:
Nice to get some of these guys but I was hoping for the original figure that was supposed to come with the Night Landing craft. I wanted to use him as 30th/50th Torpedo. Hopefully we'll still get that figure later on along with Gung Ho, v2 SS, Cobra officer, Stinger Driver, Tele Viper etc from the 'Vault.

Up Leatherneck! Up Destro!
CG76:
When can we pre-order?
Ford:
Just a thought about the missing characters like Gung Ho, Storm Shadow, Rock 'N Roll, etc... Maybe they're considering saving them for the next movie line? We know Storm Shadow will be in it, so perhaps he'll have an overhauled look closer to his V2 figure. And I'm sure they'll add a couple more Joes to the team, so maybe they're waiting until the roles are cast to make the figures look more like them. That's not to say that we won't get the concept case versions just as they were shown though. After all, we already got Ultimate Cobra Commander and Storm Shadow.
galactron22:
I already have a vintage WOLF, but no new Ice Viper, Sweeeeeeeeet! I'm also digging the Mark II, hope these do make it to retail.

The fact that these are Toys R US exclusives tell me that Hasbro and TRU have already worked out the details. So we should see this stuff. In all fairness last years stuff was exclusive to no one. So hopefully the fact that TRU is on board will help us see them in retail.
Cross Country:
Anyone else think that the night landings shown with the 2 Vamps are swapped? Looks like the black and grey NL should go with the black and grey Vamp. To bad they went with the 3/4 sleeve Flint though. Not that it will stop me from buying it.
MFJayman:
I think Leatherneck is my Most Wanted out of the bunch. I found Ultimate RB to be a flawless figure construction-wise, and for LN to be based on that body, with such a spot-on accurate vest and head--it looks like pure classic Joe gold.

Yeah, I'm assuming they're trying to spread out the goods. Gung-Ho was all-new tooling--they must have a plan for him in the not-too-distant future.

BTW, when they said these reveals are all we're getting--were they speaking of 2014, or the 50th all together? I can imagine the 50th going into early 2015, depending on the release date for the movie.
miles mayhem:
I really, really, REALLY want that Artic B.A.T. And snow job!!!!!

4 words for you, AJ: too much new tooling
Michael Jade:
Looks pretty good. I am happy we are getting new stuff. Those vamps look good.

Maybe viperskingdom on Ebay will have them before retail release. But expect to pay $$$
Cobra80:
So some of these "Maybe" could be SDCC exclusive. Why do I have a feeling it would end up being one of the most hard to find POC figures Low Light and harder to find Retaliation Night Viper becomes SDCC exclusive

Kudos and thanks to the tankers who brought all this good info. Glad to see some concept case figures to be released in 2014
outbackman:
where are we gonna buy these? are they really tru exclusives?? online only? i would be ok with bbts pre order. just dont think i have it in me to run all over looking for these like i did the last retaliation waves. id just throw in my joe towel. hopefully walmart, kmart, walgreens, ccvs, riteaid, target, kroger, publix, etc will continue to have 0 joes so we can all just go to tru, or online and be done.
garoquel:
Maybe this is just wave 1 and there will be new stuff down the line
viper2382:
These are great! So much for death of the line. Whats with the different stands? They seem to have the dogtag stands, the normal ones, and the ones that came with the ultimate figures. Just something I noticed.
Shin-Gouki:
Great TRU Exclusive so add (At Least) $10 to what you think they will cost. Just look at the INSANE price Platinum Starscream is.

Saw that also. They also used a white putty to hold some of the figures to the stands and to hold some of the weapons. I trust the Club would use reliable pictures. Maybe this is what Hasbro released to them.
Colt Blue:
The Arctic BAT is sweet. Easily my favorite Cobra figure shown here.

AJ?
maradona:
If these are going to be TRU exclusives, they may be available at the Entertainment Earth booth at SDCC. For the past several years, many TRU exclusives are available there at SDCC.
samantha:
I really like the arctic stuff. I may end up with a lot of Snow Jobs. I guess I can do some head swaps and make other Snow troops. I need 3 Sky Hawks and 2 Wolfs. That should be good.

My guess is that most of these figures have never been in the same room with each other. It has to be a lot of photoshop magic.
Mr Hebime:
As these are TRU exclusives, will BBTS or other e-tailers carry these?
Un_Chakal:
Beachhead and the Cobra Trooper don't look much different, even though it's supposed to be an "Officer", but that's definitely a Viper Officer, Cobra loves putting their officers in bullet-attracting red.

Baroness looks mostly the same too, but I get my new Lady Jaye without having to pay hundreds. Good.

So glad about the Heat Viper too, not a club exclusive now.

The Destro set, all very good even though I think the Hawk is mostly the same as the old one. I thought he might be Hard Drive all decked out like he was.

I'm saying Low Light is with the Night Viper Commander, considering he's in the aforementioned red.

Arctic BAT? Bought! and Cobra Wolf with Ice Viper? My old favorite! Bought! Heck I'll even get both versions of the Night Landing and Vamp. What a year.
Bub:
Okay, we need as fans to support this line of exclusives. Seriously. None of this wait until it is on sale stuff. None of this wait and see if it shows up at ROSS stuff. When this arrives at TRU, the shelves need to be picked clean. None of this should sit around for longer than a month. All of this 50th stuff together should cost probably around 200-250 bucks. I figure 20 dollars for the two packs (maybe 18.99), 30 for the 3 packs (maybe 27.99), 24.99 for the vehicles (maybe night landing will be less? hard to say). Anyways, stop complaining and support this when you see it. I plan on buying most if not all of this...some of it I am not that stoked about, but it is a decent representation of the Joe period that most of us love. Main characters who aren't the usual ones (of course one Snake-Eyes had to make it...a canceled one that was somewhat sought after). This shows that Hasbro is trying...Seriously, three ARAH updates in a line (Leatherneck, HEAT Viper, and Ice Viper). This is more than I thought we would see in the line in 2014. Would I like more? of course. But this is more than we thought would be offered. I think this is about as good as could be expected for Joe fans. Stop complaining and support the line. Or don't, and just wish that they made all new molds and offered them for 5 bucks a pop. this is modern collecting, get used to it.

I'm with Bub. I'm probably buying every single one of these. If not multiples of some.
DaSmokeEater:
I like the assortment and the paint schemes this time around. It's also great to see the Cobra Wolf back!

Kre-O is gonna set me back some big money this year with the kids, but I'm getting Atomic Man just for me!
rdodger:
I just hope there will be enough on the shelves for us to find.
Derek:
This is some good news to see. All I want though is leatherneck and lady jaye
Only disappointment is not seeing Gung-Ho in the line.
sparks007:
Awesome!!! That's what we needed to see !

So I am guessing $30 a 2 pack, $40 a 3 pack, $20 for the Night Landing, Sky Hawk $30, Vamp $35, Wolf $40

This is me being generous and giving them the benefit of the doubt. The Starscream I mentioned? It was originally at mass retail a few years ago for $60 and now it's at TRU as an exclusive for $110

There won't be. Toys R us exclusive means that there's simply WAY less of the stuff being made than before. Think night viper scarcity, but on everything, with everyone trying to buy everything.

Yup, better start saving.
ZeroDark:
I don't know why they went old school with the vamp 2 considering the tooling cost for the combat cruiser (roof and launcher) they could utilize that for both the vamp 2 and stinger

Yeah and Phoenix is Scalper Central so I'm screwed. I had to camp out every truck day for a month to get Masterpiece Optimus Prime V2, I had to BEG a Manager to hold a MP Rodimus for me and drive an hour and a half to get it, I NEVER saw a MP Grimlock and NEVER saw a MP Soundwave. Had to get that one aftermarket.
Shipshape1983:
Epic win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
emags:
I think this confirms what we all knew to be true, GI Joe, while not dead, is basically a movie toy line only now, with a very limited presence at retail.

1. GI Joe is not on Hasbro's list of 7 strategic properties

2. It is obvious Hasbro has spent 0 time on this brand in about 2 years. We saw Flint, Heat Viper, Beach head, among others in July 2012....So the figures are probably at least 2 years old. Did we see a lot of new product today? Sadly, no. This is old stuff.

3. There is no silver bullet to make this a mainstream line again. No cartoon, no comic tie - in, nothing to bring the kids back. W/o the kids this a movie line and a very limited line for collectors. Eventually, they probably cut - off the collectors b/c the upside here is very limited and they ain't spending money on Joe....see #2.

4. There are a lot of unreleased figures, why only release 6 and package them with re-issues. Probably saves money for them. But, maybe, just conjecture, they don't intend to investment in the line very much more....so milk the concept case as long as possible....makes sense....why release 12 concept figures in 1 year when you can release 12 over 2 years.....valuable strategy if you are not spending money.....see #2.

5. Say what you will about the Club, but we will likely see about 30 figures from them this year between FSS 2 / 3, the Convention, and Cross Country. That's 5x the new product Hasbro is putting out.

6. People say, "well Joe has come back before, so this is not different". I don't see that at all. It is not a foregone conclusion that Joe comes back. Clearly, they are not investing. And in 1995, I believe TF was not doing so well either, so they had to invest in something. Now TF is killing it. Why spend any money on Joe, if you are Hasbro.....and that's why it is a non strategic property.

7. To put Joe in perspective, I believe TF is getting 73 Generations figures. Granted, it is a movie year and some are really movie figures, but 73!!

8. To end on a positive note, the designers do make cool product, when they make product. Leatherneck is fantastic. HEAT Viper too. Destro is sweet. Snow Wolf is great. Sadly, most of the people who designed it are at Boss Fight Studio or have been re-assigned internally....sorry, I tried to end on a good note.

Agreed. This may be Hasbro's way of testing the profits of their concept vault figures. If these exclusives sell well without a movie behind them we may get the rest of the vault. I plan on buying at least one of each and troopbuilding cobras.
