245am:
Didn't see this posted elsewhere on here, but looks like The Hub will begin airing Sigma Six episodes in July!

“Transformers: Animated” and “G.I. Joe: Sigma 6″ Coming to The Hub in July

That's pretty cool for fans like me who never saw the show originally and would like to catch up on it...
A.C.T.:
Cool, something dope to TiVo.
kneroh:
Great... gi joe needs yet another continuality floating around...
jeffafa:
I never paid any attention to Sigma Six. I didnt even know there was a cartoon behind the toy line! I wish I had the HUB. Does this mean these shows might end up on Netflix too?
kennywr22:
While the show wasn't the greatest, it's cool to have more joe cartoons on tv again.
Grippen:
And bring the toys also specially all those 2.5'' cancelled ones, cool vehicles we missed with the cancellation like the Joes jet Screaming Eagle, I'm sure the box artwork would be great just like in all other vehicles was.
boff123:
nice, i missed a few so it sounds like a good way to catch up.
villa24:
great! hope it airs on HD, even if its upscaled
MWG:
Is it true that the DVD release of Sigma Six really screwed up the timeline of the series and its ties to the Valor vs. Venom movie? It would be nice to see that dropped, and the original intro theme on the first episode, like the Fox Kids "preview" version.

+-MWG-+
RolandofGilead:
Never saw this, but would like to.
Raw Dog:
I'll watch it again when they re-air it. Season 2 was actually pretty dope if I remember correctly.
Lantern_Lad:
Cool news!

Never caught an episode... setting it up on the DVR!
orezona:
Okay, let me get this straight:

We get a cartoon brought back that is based on a cancelled toy line, while the toy line based on another cartoon (which was put on permanent hiatus) is knocked out of the way for a toy line based on a movie which got delayed 9 months?

Makes perfect sense.

Crimson Rage:
Hope this is a prelude to a DVD release.

"Brought back"? It's only a repeat, so yes it does make sense. It'll keep Joe alive on the air for at least a bit longer until the movie turns up.

Yes, "First Strike" removed pretty much all references to Valor vs Venom, changed VAs, and condensed the first 5 episodes into a movie format.

The original airing version referenced Valor vs Venom (including some V-trooper footage) and had different VAs in several key positions.

I'm hoping for an appearance on Netflix, myself. The series was enjoyable, but not enough for me to drop on a DVD set at this point.

I'm just glad to see more Joe than just RAH and Renegades on the air, and I hope the series finds a second life on the Hub, considering how much 4Kids shafted it back in its original run.
Talisman:
Excellent, I remember only catching a handful of episodes during the original run and I'm really looking forward to a second chance. I loved the aesthetics of the show, especially the vehicles.

Of course now I'll probably get hooked into buying the toys... goddamit.

Name a show aired/localized/produced by 4Kids that didn't have to do with card games that DIDN'T get shafted at some point.
CrimsonGuard101:
They are really grasping for straws for some content on this sinking ship of a tv channel now arent they lol...
ndb:
This wasn't the greatest cartoon, but I brought me into the world of Gijoe, so I love it despite King Tunnel Rat the Ninja.
firefox:
I still consider Sigma 6 to be the best gijoe cartoon, it's well animated, has lots of humor in it and due to teh limited cats has well developped caracters. It's like beast wars is to transformers G1. different, but better . The new renegades cartoon comes close doh, but maks the super cool vehicules that sigma has!
Wylde Weezle:
I remember catching an episode every once in a while, it was clearly a show made for kids. It never kept my attention span, what little I had on those Saturday mornings.

I did pick up a few of the toys; I held onto a Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and...some blue cyborg ninja thingy for a couple years. I loved the articulation, I kind of wish I'd kept them. I'll give the show another shot, at least try to make sense of it by watching every episode in order.

DUDE.

Those 2.5" Sigma toys were some of the best toys GIJOE has put out since the 80's

Those are WAAAAAY underrated.

Maybe is they had been 3.5" - 4" in size...and on the quality level of POC

How awesome would it be if they were re-tooled to accommodate 3.75" Joes? I mean, if Sigma 6 were originally that scale, they would have been everyone's favorite Joes. I mean, not really, but you know what I mean, lol.

It's not actually another continuity...unless you bought the DVD's (because they changed stuff)...the first episode directly ties it to the Valor Vs Venom movie (Kamakura's first cartoon appearance), which seemed loosely tied to the original cartoon series via the Spy-Troops movie which was written by Hama himself (Heavy Duty's first appearance in cartoons)...In the first episode General Hawk is in the hospital recovering from his DNA being scrambled after being transformed into Venomous Maximus...the little kid that tags along on some of their adventures is Hawk's son...(oh yeah, spoiler alert, If you haven't watched this yet after this many years, and call yourself a joe fan, you deserved the spoiler)...it's not the best joe series, in my opinion, as it was clearly designed for kids, but it's worth the watch if you like GI Joe...If you are watching Sigma Six for the first time, do yourself a favor and watch the Spy-Troops and Valor Vs Venom movies first...
fireflyguy:
I started to watch this on cartoon network, I think, in 2006, and I was like, "What the heck???". I quit watching because it wadnt the Joe I knew. But I'm so hungry for something Joe right now that I'll watch it this time around.
DavAnthony:
oh good lord why
Raw Dog:
I would buy S6 on DVD if they released it.

I also think the Hub should air episodes of Extreme and Inhumanoids.

Inhumanoids...all I remember about it is some angry trees and a giant anorexic alligator man saying "Decompose" with a wicked lisp...and that Cthulhu looking dude...
DavAnthony:
Inhumanoids was unique, interesting, and well executed...however was not as well lmade as the higher level shows of hte time. it was also made over 20 years ago and yet is still better quality than Sigma Six.

LOL that was Tendril, Decompose and Metlar! they were epic! Be Awesome to get those in the same size again with POC quality/artiucaltion !
Solrac333:
26 episodes? They'll cancel it after 24.
Jinx723:
Put it on Netflix
I watched the first season and it really was meant for kids. I never got to watch the entire 2nd season and that's when it got a lot better. I was so pissed when the DVD came out and it was a condensed rehash of the first few episodes. If Shout releases it on DVD, I'll get it.
green_shirt:
I got nothing but love for all things Sigma 6. This makes my already good day just a bit better.

I do remember that my parents actually watched Inhumanoids with me...which is odd for them, they really don't watch cartoons at all, even when I was a kid...I can only remember a handful of cartoons they did watch when I was young...GI Joe (my dad liked Shipwreck), Robotech, and Spiderman and His Amazing Friends...

I dug it...I still have my Sigma 6 team on display...only one I regret not getting ahold of was Shipwreck, stores in my area are terrible about restocking anything...though I did get lucky enough to grab 3 Ninja BATS and 3 Sky BATS
Jay West:
It's Joe on tv. Beats the other Joe out there right now...oh wait there isn't any. I'll take it. I'd love to see Extreme aired too - they could play up the fact in ads that it is Joe in the future. Extreme could even air in March around movie time with the simple tagline of "See the Joe of today at the theaters and see the Joe of tomorrow on the Hub."

We really do not need to confuse the kiddies anymore at this point....lets just scrap all vintage shows being aired and focus the attention on making a new cartoon to blow us all away...kids and collectors (especially those of us divided between ARAH/Resolute/Renegades) can all like. Theres enough DVD and Netflix availability for all of these failed cartoons out there already at thi spoint. Dont afford Hasbrah excuses for just having "something" out there. They want you to take that line of thinking so they can continue to half ass stuff...

You realize you're asking the utterly impossible. Or at least the highly improbable.

I only watched maybe 2 or 3 episodes of Sigma 6. I really don't remember much about it at all. The only Sigma 6 figure I have is Snake Eyes. I do kinda want the Storm Shadow though, he looks cool.
arashikage ninja:
I caught a few episodes on dvd, but never got to see the whole series. Gonna DVR it. Hope its aired in order.
ickzer1:
This show was pretty good. The concept was workable too. Plus it fits in with alot what kids like today.
Syn3sthesia:
Excellent! By the time I notice the show was pretty much ending out of the tv runnings and the slow website was not that great to navigate. Going to DVR it!

You mean a well directed, well written show with great character designs, amazing voice work and superb characterisation? That was RENEGADES...
Ash Talon:
To be honest, I liked Sigma 6 better than Renegades. Sure, it had some juvenile humor but so did Renegades. S6 may have been guilty of having Tunnel Rat eat bugs, but Renegades did the same thing. I think S6 had way better action sequences, though. I remember the opener (or early episode) had Scarlet launching her aircraft out of the ROCC while it was barreling down a corridor in some Cobra base. It was one of the few times in watching a show that I thought the action was honestly tense.

Just couldn't get into Renegades. Obviously it catered to a younger audience, but it also bore the sin of being boring. The designs were rather plain. And I found none of the characters appealing.

S6 could have benefited from toning down the anime look and making the animation designs a little more American-ized like the toyline.
CobraOfficer999:
I've never seen Sigma 6 Cartoons, are they any better quality then the toys?
Raw Dog:
Generalsjoes.com has an awesome review of Sigma 6 for those unfamiliar with the show, or if you just want to get yourself pumped up for it.
