Vintage GIJOE ARAH Army Builder Collection Diorama - GI Joe News
Viperscout 7:
I know PDD is a rare figure but my CC would have put a full clip into him if Destro sat on his throne
but damn that is a nice display
JoeMama:
man-jeezus.

nice to see PDD leading the forces.

Only one thing this army fears, and it ain't joe.
It's earthquakes.
sbartek1974:

malcontentman:
I am tempted to play dominoes all of the sudden, yet I don't know why? Wish I had the money and space to do that.
fireflyguy:
Extremely impressive!!!!
Kungfuguy:
How do you buy vintage figures in mainland China? Just curious. Did joe ever make it to China? The tv show I mean. China of the late 80's wasn't that open and stuff like joe would likely be banned. I find it hard to imagine a gen xer from china would be being buying tens of thousands of vintage joes from ebay. Any ideas?
Dusty Ayers:
It's cool but dear God what is the point? It just takes up too much space.

Many Joes were made in China and Hong Kong, so there is a lot of access through that area. Plus, some of those 1991-92 era figures have been available on ebay in quantity from Asia, like the Incinerator.

Also, yes, there are many examples of Joes being sold in China in the 90s. There was one wave that was imported heavily in the US in the early to mid 90s that included the infamouse Chinese Bludd and Tiger force falcon as well as the variant Duke and Barricade-Roadblock.
Money-B:
That throne is wicked.
I want one.
skinny:
impressive but...aren't they all facing the wrong way? shouldn't they all be facing the reviewing stand to listen to Serpentor's glorious speech??
oh wait I got it, they all got done listening to the speech, just did an about face and are about to leave the parade grounds in an orderly manner.
someone in China owes me a no-prize.
Kaboomskie:
Anyone here dare to beat that collection?
Uninvited Ghost:
Obligatory 13500 vipers joke.
ilzuccone:

samantha:
Very nice set-up. I like seeing pictures of Armies.
CobraOfficer999:
Amazing collection. So, this is the reason the price of MLC 1982 and 1983 Cobra Troopers and Officers has risen to 40-60 bucks a pop: most of the supply is in this guy's hands.
neapolitan joe:
Awesome, but why Destro is on the throne?
This is the real Chinese terracotta army!

Not a very well known topic but GIJOE did air in Shanghai China. Here is the proof, 3 broadcasting guides that were a read-along when the cartoon aired on TV in China. I have no idea what these say but you would thing the dialogue was much different then the US Cartoon. In the top left of the back of the book you can see that it is marked Shanghai TV weekly (last picture).

It also aired in Japan. I have another book from Japan that shows the voice actors.
Python Viper:
Wow those pictures are incredible!! I also noticed a couple of UK CGI variants in the background behind the Vipers and CGs.
supersonicshion:
Speechless.
Cobra Terrorist:
Aweeeeeeeesome. Look at all those Range Vipers!

Hey, what are the details on that lighter-colored Cobra Trooper (the ones with the logo on the helmet)?
Gatchaman:
Most impressive.

The only thing I don't get is why there is more than one Copperhead?
Wylde Weezle:
Wow, very impressive! I wish I could afford an army. I have a "terrorist organization."

I noticed that too.

But hey man, that collection is epic & legendary, kudos to that dude in China.
machiwoomiapoo:
Where Cobra LALALALALALALALALALALALA?
Steel Brigade:
Gadzooks!!
Tim 121RVC:
Looks very cool. Too bad a lot of the figures are just figures, no weapons or gear.
zweiman:
obviously, i have no idea what an army is...
Jinx723:
That's a lot of O-Rings to replace once they start breaking.

I love how it's all ARAH figures. No one could ever build an army like this with Modern Era figures, because you can never find $#!+ at retail.

Do you mean the ones in picture 3 ? Those are from the Night Watch set, came out not long after the blue shirt six packs. Was so disappointed when that happened. Hasbro found the waist for the old Trooper/Officer and then they found the old classic heads but then never used the correct waist again or those awesome thunder arms the blue shirt troopers had. Instead we got those messed up Troopers with Roadblock waists and arms. lol I think most of the comic pack figures period used that damned Roadblock waist.

Looking at all those ARAH figs, I wonder how they ever found stands to fit them. I bet they broke a bunch of feet. That is one extremely impressive army!

Wow! Never thought it would be broadcast in china. Even with extensive editing, joe screams american jingoism. I'd swear it would be banned in china. Amazing find.

Hey, stranger!

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Must be nice to live next to the old Hasbro factory/recycle bin! Or having the molds.
Woo-Dig-It:
wow! I thought my pics in my gallery were decent. These are epic! Nice job! I got a great laugh out of pimp daddy Destro on the throne. Great! Impressive display!! Good job!
deadfish:
