GI Joe ARAH Figure: Shooter Repaints

shooter-kickstart
This project is to test the interest in these repaints of the "Shooter" figure that is currently in production. If the goal is met, these repaints will also be produced.

Tooling for this figure is currently in production. Full production of the "Shooter" figure is expected to begin in late December. This repaint would begin production at the same time as "Shooter". Expected release for this repaint would be the spring of next year.

Hisstank's own Falcone is producing a Shooter O-Ring figure, and has a Kickstarter up to do 5 repaints, including Quarrel and a reimagined Scarlett. And now you can choose as part of your reward to get the original version of Shooter, GI Joe Trooper repaint, or Amber (still not clear on why it's named Amber...).

72 hours left, and half way to $3000.

Yes, I know there is already a thread about this in the Vintage forum, but thought many more folks that don't frequent that forum would be interested in this.
Troynos:
Show your support for this project, even if you don't like O-Rings.

If this goes, it will hopefully influence others to do similar.
THE RED SHADOWS:
aweome really really awesome

People really really need to support this !
nickvree:
53 hours!
yeti76:
Ordered 5. (1 of each) . Come on people! Help get these made!!!

Seriously, though, why hasn't this been front paged? If this goes through, this will be huge for the Joe Community, and hopefully spawn more projects like this.
Paco:
I ordered 5 as well. Looking to up it to 8 later today.

Exactly!

I know he wants to do some other figures (female Cobra trooper is the one I can remember; and I think he said something about a short sleeve storm shadow?), which is awesome!

Getting NEW O-Ring figures is amazing. I know some other folks are doing essentially repaints of existing molds (the camo Cobra Troopers, chrome Storm Shadows), but I don't know of anyone else doing brand new molds.
nickvree:
In case folks were wondering about 'Amber' like I was:

I just put in $20. I want the Shooter and Amber, but did not see a way to order or choose these. This was my first time ever on kickstarter so I am not sure if I did something incorrectly.

My first time on kickstarter too, but if it gets funded, then Falcone will contact everyone with what choices they want.
Troynos:
From what I understand; Shooter, Amber and the Scarlet repaint will get made no matter what and we'll be able to order.

The Kickstarter was for the other 5 repaints, but he changed it so can order any of the 8 total.

I know I'll end up getting all 8.

Female Cobra Trooper would be cool.
JoeMama:
This is absolutely awesome. Pledge sent.
Great idea, glad I could be a part of it.
Thanks man!

ah, ok. I am in that boat too.
Funny how my first ever kickstarter funding is for an action figure.
Sounds about right.

AMBER = awesome.
I remember watching that episode in the boxed set last year and wanting that figure, and remember as a kid watching that episode and thinking she was pretty, and wanting that action figure.
So... now we get that action figure, which is awesome!

I only wish you had posted it sooner. I don't look at the vintage forum and might have signed up before going out of town.

Thanks to the Joe Club fiasco, all of that is now locked up with complicated passwords and different email addresses for each site. So, no. :(

Gotcha the kickstarter was in addition to the 3 he plans to sell, but he let backer pick the 3 for sale if they didn't wan't the 5 from the kickstarter project.
Jay West:
I'm hoping the sculpting on these won't look totally out of place with 25th. I am excited for Shooter and Amber.
Tom-1:
I just made my donation!

Fans should really consider getting behind this - we get upset that Hasbro won't make the figures we want the way we want... well, here's the way.

Support it now even if you're not wild about what is offered at the moment.

I sorta agree. Isn't there quite a cottage industry of 3rd party transformers? I'd support $10-$15 third party Joes.

Female Cobra Trooper is high on my to do list. The moment I make back my investment (hopefully) on Shooter, the next figure project will begin. I have a mile long list of figures.

I would like to do a reproduction of the '84 Storm Shadow, ala the Black Major, with the short sleeves (not sleeveless like the comic pack figure). I would replace the head with the comic pack Firefly head though to make the figure different from vintage. Storm Shadow would then be repainted every color under the sun. This figure is high on my to do list as well.

Awesome! Falcone - if only you could get the molds from Slayer and make the figures we were all supposed to get as well.

You have my support, patronage and respect!

O-Rings Forever!

I would love to work with Dave to have the Project ARAH figures produced.

I also forgot to add in my last post that I am looking into commissioning Joe customizers to do future sculpt work. I figure a Joe fan has better understanding of Joes so the sculpts should be better than Shooter's sculpt.

From what I understand, yes. It would great if we could get there for Joes as well!

Hey, Falcone! First of all, I respect the heck out of what you are doing with Shooter and the other unproduced characters you've mentioned. But I'm scratching my head with the SS '84, and I'm even one of those guys who own EVERY domestic SS and SE. I don't understand why you would want to make this figure? Did they not already make a million versions of him in just about every color (even if they didn't officially name him SS)? In other words, why is he high on your list? Just curious. I can't wait to get my hands on a Shooter. I'm assuming these will be available for ordering at some point in the new year?
The Commander:
Pledged $50. Looks like if everyone chips in within the next 6 hours it'll make it!
nickvree:
$384 and 4 hours to go, come on!
Sgt Humpty:
I bumped my pledge up to $50.
The Commander:
$314 to go with 3 hours left!
nickvree:
Whoo! $3,096! Funded!!! (assuming people don't drop out, lol)
The Commander:
$3146, woot!
roboticplanet:
Just learned of Shooter this morning and I'm in for 1.

I'm only interested in KO/3rd party stuff that's original or not just a repaint of someone else's IP, so this is perfect. Thanks Falcone.

So you're the one I'm always fighting with over KOs on eBay. ;)
sbarrett4:
Falcone,

I pledged $50 to the project. Kickstarter emailed me asking for my figure choices. It only allows me to select one figure on their form.
Should I just note the other 4 choices I want in the "select multiples" box?
Jay West:
Awesome! Glad it got funded.
Pit Viper:
Looking forward to these. I ordered 3. 1 Shooter, Joe Trooper, and Quarrel. May be interested in others once I get these.

Actually I've been sticking to Transformers lately, but have been exhausting that, so I'm sure I'll be an active KO GI Joe contender soon enough
Falcone:
First off, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Happy *insert your beliefs here*!

A big thanks to all those who contributed to make these repaints happen. And thank you to those who wanted to contribute but could not for various reasons. This has been a huge boost to the project overall. When building all new tooling for a figure it is vital to get the most use out of that tooling. Because I can now produce additional repaints there is a much greater chance of the project making it's money back which means more new figures in the future. And that is my goal, to continue to provide new O-ring figures to fill all the empty holes Hasbro had left in people's collections when they stopped producing O-rings. By helping this project you have in term helped yourselves and helped the community as a whole.

All contributors should have received a survey from Kickstarter. I guess you cannot choose multiple choices in the survey so please note which figures and how many in the multiples section.

For those who were late or unable to contribute. And those who may want more than what you "preordered". All 8 of these figures will be available in ample supply once production has completed.

News on the production front. Full mass production is set to begin this week. Below are test shots of the finalized tooling. We were unable to fix the waist (I hope to do so at a later time and provide them for free to those who purchased), however the swivel arms have been completed and the figure has swivel wrists as well. There still has been some question, yes the figures will be fully painted in factory.

Gothiczartan:
I have few questions about this project you have. PM me please and we can talk. BTW those sculpts look pretty good.

Glad to hear it.
Grepdogg:
Have you had the chance to look into some cardbacks for these figures? I know there was a certain individual making custom backs for the BLACK MAJOR figures that looked factory. I have one of his SGT SLAUGHTER customs and they are definitely display worthy.

In regards to future figure runs. Just look at the O-Ring forever site. See which figures won the votes and were supposed to be created and delivered, then make those as we will probably never receive those figures - which is a real shame.

The footwork has already been done. A chat with the BLACK MAJOR would probably be helpful as well to get an idea of what might be popular.

Once you start putting the words GI Joe on something (for profit), Hasbro seems to get pissed. That's why the NJCC exclusive cardbacks have NJCC instead of GI Joe.
Falcone:
This isn't really an update. The manufacturer sent me some pictures of hand painted samples of each figure. They are completely hand painted. They are testing out colors for the painted parts. The final production parts will of course be molded in the base colors and the painted parts will be applied with paint masks. The colors are not final and some of them will be corrected like Trooper's shirt color. I thought I would share the first examples of the figures colored.
Nirvana:
Do you know if the head's plastic is going to be hard plastic like the original ARAH line or a softer plastic (VvV, JvC) which is easier for dremmeling into a ME head?
