Viper_486: Shot this a few days ago.
Had a blast running around in uniform, and taking a pile of pix.
Kudos goes out to my fiancee for the awesome pics.
(I'm the officer in the gallery, BTW.) Spring Patrol 2009
Enjoy!

Nobody fishes it, probably some pretty good sized fish n there, as its been abandoned for over a century.
There are about 20 or so of them within a 5 minute walk from my house.
The ruins we shot the pics in are part of the old mine.
Probably the mounting bed for a large ore crusher or processor.
The ruins in this particular site cover about 2 acres.
Great to play airsoft in. miragearmor: That's funny that the Cobra troops surrendered to a Mauler tank.
They should've call in air support from a Rattler squadron. LOL zuludelta: Awesome pics and great job with the costumes. G.I.Eddie: looks like fun...i had a blast taking pics of my wife dressed up a couple weeks ago, i can certainly understand what it was like... Viper_486: Quote:

They should've call in air support from a Rattler squadron. LOL | Trust me, we would have, except we didn't have a Tele-viper. ;)
Should have one by the time we have a fall patrol. AMERICAN_Hero7: Gotta wonder what Cobra's fitness standards are these days lol j/k Tracker: Wow those are some of the best detailed action figures and diorama sets I've ever seen...... :P
Great work on the costumes dtm1971: Quote:

I had the Pig Flue....SORRY!!!my bad!!!!!DAMN H,M,O s coola784: i really need to get a viper outfit and helmet, i would wear it all the time. awesome pics. Captain Carstein: Great stuff! Thanks for sharing.
You need to do a little recruiting to fill out your "squad" for next time. Money-B: Quote:

Great pics though. joecom: Cool now go into a mall and see what happens LOL
and say hail Cobra shdwknt: Considering star wars fans have the 501st.. this would be some sweet stuff to do with Joes..
A bunch of people need to get together and do this.. make the costumes full time and sell them to garrisions around the country and during shows - show up in full gear. Wry1: Lol!!! Wow dude, just........wow, I'm not sure what's cooler, the costumes, or the fact that your fiancee took the pic's. It would be so much geeky fun to play paintball decked out like this. Obviously it would f!#k up the costumes so it would never happen, but still.... nerdsgetchicks: Wow.......I don't even know what to say.
Where did you take these photos?
Funny pics.
Thanks Jaybird: cool costumes! i think you win the "Fan Boy of the Day" award. snakeeyes0217: Great costumes! I'm making a Cobra Commander costume for my son for Halloween this year. Do you mind sharing what you used for the Viper's faceplate? And is it easy to see through? Mel357: Great pics. The chrome face shield and red balaclava would make great targets for my FAL Great weapons too, are they the real deal?? Love the Krink. venomous: Trust me when I say those helmets are awesome. I have one of the Viper's, and I love it. Pics will be coming eventually. thealleyviper: Very cool....I wish there were good places for shoots like that where I live. bigdaddyblue73: I wonder if some hillbillys called Homeland Security! lol
"Get da shotgun an my dawgs, Betty Lou, der's Cobrers in de cownfield agin!"
"God dang you alkidies! You tabilon rascles! Sick em Rufus! Git em fido!" COL Abernathy: Wow, these are so figure-accurate! Very cool.
As a side note, looking at these life-size walking, living action figures, it kinds of puts things in perspective why they can't make 'toon or comic accurate costumes in the movie now, doesn't it? I mean, maybe the Joe movie took it to the extreme with the accelerator suits and Neo Viper helmets, but bright red and blue don't exactly look very menacing do they? darthfoley: Quote:

So far as I know, the 21st Infantry (of which I am a proud member), is the original COBRA based costuming group - if there was one before us, I haven't heard of it. COBRA Cares!
;)
Viper_486 is a good friend of ours, and is the 'boss' of his own group, the 43rd.
There is also at least one Joe based group, operating out of G.I. Joe Costumers jezones: in my view, no matter how good the cobra uniforms look on a 4 inch figure, they just look silly when worn by actual people. maybe if the blue was darker on the officer uniform, but having been in the army, you would have made it real easy to shoot you from 300 meters with my trusty m-16 jeremywatts: I'm sorry big heavy men running around in costumes pretending like they are Cobra's that is frightening. I would not be caught dead dressed like that. Maybe when I was 5 sure but not any age over 10. I'm sure the FBI is now thinking you are some kind of cult terrorist. Viper_486: Quote:

We just ran out and shot this on a whim, and 2 in uniform was all we could manage on such short notice.
Else you'd had more troops. Quote:

Everybody knows who we are, and nobody has a problem.
Know all the local cops, and they actually think what we do is pretty awesome, so no trouble or worries for us.
We usually troop to photo shoots in full uniform. and our neighbors are used to it. Quote:

She's have been the pics with us, if we'd had someone else to take the pics. Quote:

All of the custom equipment you see in the pics was made by us.
The Viper helm is no harder to see out of than a pair of sunglasses. Quote:

I dunno. I still think classic navy blue uniforms look better than the crap in the movie, but that is *my* opinion.
Plus, when there are like 20 of us (and there are) trooping together at a con, we don't exactly look cuddly. Quote:

I agree, but then again, thats why Cobra has the BATS...
As for the blue being light on my officer uniform, I did mine to match aa group of friends who are gonna be involved in a large shoot at SDCC this year, plus I am finishing the webgear for the Bazooka Trooper, and I wanted to go figure accurate. Quote:

And I am truly sorry you feel that way.
I am good friends with my local Chief of Police, and most of our officers.
They know I and my friends are professional costumers, and do this kinda thing for fun all the time.
Trust me, they have no problems with it.
I am also active in our local Neighborhood Watch, and am on the board of our cities small business association.
I also sit on the cities Rennaissance Faire board, nad have been active in historical reenactment (more costuming) and teaching historical european combat for the last 8 years.
Yes, I am a kid at heart, and I intend to stay that way.
My fiancee loves it (she costumes too) and our daughters think its awesome that Mom and Dad can dress up as the toys they play with.
My friends and I have brought great happiness to many people who have seen us, and asked for pictures with us.
Would you deny them that, or my children that, just because you have fears over what kind of clothes you wear?
I don't, and my life, my children's lives, and the lives of those around me are far richer for it.
Maybe someday you can have that kind of impact on others, too.
Then you will see why doing things like this make us so happy.

Plan on offering the full uniforms for both... venomous: Quote:

-Viper 486 out. | I can't agree more with those statements. I've been doing some costuming since 1997 when I made a screen accurate "Scream" costume. My fiance also does some as well as a Jawa and has agreed to do a Baroness, soon. I have two reasons for doing the costuming.
1. It's fun as all get out making and putting together the costumes (though frustrating at times when you can't get things right). And when you do it in groups, the get togethers can be fun as anything. And walking around places and having people stop you left and right asking for your picture.
2. Kids. Kids love seeing their favorite charcters in person. If there has been a time I've went out in public in costume and haven't seen a kid go crazy for seeing a Mando or other costumes, I can't remember when it was. And I know in a couple of weeks, I'm going in costume to help out a fundraiser for a kid who's got cancer.
So there's my reasons, and I'm sorry some don't like us in costumes. But I'm gonna keep doing it anyway.
=o) Viper_486: Amen brother.
You hit the nail right on the head. rob0213: Awesome stuff, looks like an aweful lot of fun. Dominic Marco: Quote:

Usually, the biggest obstacles result from translating 2D design flourishes (like AstroBoy's hair spikes, or Mickey Mouse's ears always being viewable from any angle) or overly saturated comic colours (such as Superman's blue tights), but all of the G.I.Joe source material first stems from the little 4" 3 dimensional figures we so covet And for the most part (until a couple of years into the lineup) the colours were kept to fairly realistic hues. I just quickly tinkered with one of the photos and I have no problem seeing how this would actually work well on film vengecore: Nice Suits! you guys ever play Cobra Themed Airsoft games? It would be a blast. Viper_486: Quote:

Your the guy who did that unreal baroness, too!
What an honor to have you take notice of our work.
Any way my costuming group, The 43rd Cobra Infantry (Mechanized) could use that retooled pic of us you did for recruitment purposes? rob0213: Quote:
