Stock prices went up.

They made profit and didn't even have to give us new toys.

Started as a rumor and ended up as nothing. Most of us got all worried and bent out of shape for nothing.

Gotta say part of me is somewhat disappointed... Could have possibly been a great thing for the brand.

not totally debunked until we see a press release from Hasbro or Disney one way or the other.

Utilizing this logic, Disney is also in talks to acquire Pepsi, Mattel, The Bridge Direct and Lego, and to merge with Time-Warner and Apple. Can't debunk it till the companies all release a press release!

i dont see internet rumors being bandied about referring to those companies. there are however rumors about Hasbro from a mildly legitimate source. Also hasbro was asked and refused to comment didnt say no didnt say yes.

Well that's a relief.

We can still talk about Disney's buy out of Hasbro like its true if you guys want. I think it will eventually lead to that GI Joe/ Transformers cross over I've been dreaming about.

If there were any talks in place of any kind they would be with a strict NDA so it wouldn't affect the shares of either company before a buyout. This rumor is debunked for now but only for the sake of the rumor. This could still be happening behind the scenes and most of the employees of Hasbro would have little to no knowledge. The fact that Hasbro said no comment speaks volumes as well and could mean that at one point in the more recent that either Disney or some company it now owns spoke with Hasbro about a venture similar to a merger or buyout and now Hasbro is still within the NDA time frame.

Regardless, the idea is now floating around the internet so if Disney was not thinking of it, I am sure they are now.

LET BANDAI do some toylines...atleast there figure's are solid and are able to hold weapons with no issues...eg-THUNDERCATS TOYLINE!!

As we all know Hasbro's number 1 competitor is Mattel which is owned by Warner and DC. And Disney's number one competitor is Warner and DC so. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

cough...Bullshit..Hasbro needs time to close other party deals, then we will see some different news in about a year or two

Sadface. I don't trust Hasbro to effectively utilize the JOE brand anymore. They cancel a perfectly good show that has a real chance of bringing more kids to the brand, delay a big budget movie just to add crummy 3d, and give a toy line that has always been about articulation and vehicles, in my eyes, crummy articulation and very few vehicles.

They still produce a few good figures here and there, but everything else is just a bit meh. They should be hitting consumers on all fronts for JOE. A Superhero Squad-like show for kids, Renegades-esque show for the 10-17 range, and Resolute quality for adult collectors. Hour long short movies or something to go crazy with joe action as well as a good movie every few years for the next 10-12 years. I think Disney is much better suited to do this. Toys made by Hasbro, stories by Disney. You can't tell me that they don't know how to market a brand.
