IDW Octobober 2010 GI Joe Solicits Reveal GI Joe Renegades Logo - GI Joe News

Found these two gems in the IDW solicitations for October.

It's been CONFIRMED that they are placeholder images only and no information can be revealed beyond the pictures.

So leave the comments about the artwork at the door, THESE ARE NOT FINAL ARTWORK.

xFlintx:
Really digging the Renegades Logo
Shin Densetsu:
Actually the Prime may be official, that design is Prime Bumblebee's design and that image was shown months back. The logos are also legit.

Confirmed today that the image itself is a placeholder for this picture, not sure about the design of Bumblebee.

The Joe is the same image we've been seeing.

I'm liking the Renegades logo as well.
Gyre-Viper:
love the logo. the SE design is growing on me more and more.
RuckusJr:
I love ne some Snake Eyes, and I love me some Aeon Flux. But when you combine the two I don't like it.
Adamantite:
Guys, the post title on the front page says: Octobober

;)

Placeholders for the covers, that cover may or may not be used for the tpb, but I definitely remember seeing it months ago. Design for Bumblebee for Prime is legit, as is the logo.

It will lend itself well to fluid action sequences. Better in movement than in stills...still reminds me of the Peter Chung animations, which is a good thing.

Also, holy shit Storm Shadow from IDW looks BAD ASS.
Troynos:
Yeah, IDW Storm Shadow looks awesome. I NEED that Storm Shadow figures.

Perfect mix of Resolute, classic and new stylings.
vadersquest:
Oh yeah. Not digging the B but SE is a solid win for sure.
A.C.T.:
I like that Snake-Eyes is fresh out the hood with the saggy cargo pants. All he needs is a Champion hoody and a corner on the block.
Irid70:
The Renegades logo I can take or leave.

But that particular Snake-Eyes art...

I try not to be a hater or to bitch too much. I don't think anyone can accuse me of being in any particular haters camp.

That sucks. It is just awful. He's too slim, too undefined (not in the sense of musculature, it is too loose and vague). It has no sense of weight or presence. Is that a gun on his hip? It looks like a vague block with lines on it. I really, really don't like that art.

I didn't particularly like the Duke image we saw, but I don't nearly HATE it like I hate this Snake-Eyes art, though.

Edit: I just want to be clear, I hate that Snake-Eyes art but am in no way writing off Renegades or screaming "DEATH OF TEH LINE" or anything. Still very interested to see what will come of the animated series.
SteelCity86:
That Snake Eyes has the body of a 13 yr. old girl. Looking at that picture I have lost all hope for the new animation. That is the animation of a kid's cartoon. Not saying going that route doesnt make sense business wise for the brand, but that certainly doesnt excite me. Maybe Im getting the wrong impression, which is always possible, but that whole thing just screams young kids show. I can just picture that SE telling us to eat our vitamins and drink our milk at the end of an episode...ugh. Looks like Im gonna have to get my Joe fix from the comics. Love what they're doing with the comics right now. As an adult,I want to see a more adult Joe. Not saying they need to throw sex in there or anything, not at all, but I want something as an adult I can read. I think IDW is doing a pretty decent job of that right now. Not perfect, and not too adult, but not insulting either. When I look at that cartoon,I see the opposite. That reminds me of that Transformers cartoon. Maybe kids will like it (which is good 4 the brand) but no adult can sit through an episode. I know they said it would be geared towards kids, but watchable for us. That animation doesnt give me hope. Even the logo is childish. Again, HOPE Im wrong.

Transformers cover looks awesome though and more Joe comics!!!
R2FU:
Well the Transformers look promising but that GI JOE logo and art looks terrible. Hasbro are you trying to kill GI JOE? Abandon the entire "anti-USA" GI JOE Rise of Cobra theme - it failed. Time to reincorporate the Red, White, and Blue into the GI JOE Logo once again. While you're at it will you give that poor little anorexic Snake-eyes a protein bar.
CVdelgado:
this is a happy thread! : )

with many grumpy posters...
CVdelgado:
it is a blessing being easily amused.
Shin-Gouki:
I'm going to keep an open mind until I see the first episodes but so far I do not like what I am seeing so far with either.
Griff:
i hope they repreportion the character designs...they look a lil undefined and lanky. Hope the toys dont turn out that way or this will be a real short trip.

Looks as if the new TF cartoon will be based in the bayverse.... so much for hoping we'd get a classics look to the new toon. Maybe the stories will at least be good?
speedocub:
I miss the old logo.
Cksport:
That GI Joe logo is horrible..

It looks liek the logo for Jem.. What are you doing hasbro!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And snake eyes.... come on.. this is garbage. Give the scrawny guy some damn muscles.
RuckusJr:
I don't watch cartoons anymore, so I can only go by what I see. Is this made for kids? If so, then it's fine. That's what we see with several other types of toon. I have no prob with that. Would I buy that figure? No. Would an 8 year old want that? Possibly. I've also gotten much more discerning since I've spread to collect not just Joes anymore.

Hey, back in the day I thought the first images of Batman: TAS looked like blocky crap, until I saw them move and heard the acting and writing. It's hoping for a lot, but still, it's not impossible.
KALASH69:
I dig the logo alot, and I do like the Renegades style of art. Reminds me of Clone Wars style stuff.
CrimsonGuard101:
They can do what ever the hell they want in the animation...just please please please no not f'up the toys...POC is too good to be true I guess to last :( there can only be a nightmare of figures coming if they are going to look like that Snake Eyes...but my wallet will be in pure heaven if so...all goo dthings must come to an end they keep telling me...

Yeah I despised the art in TF Animated but wound up loving the Writing and Voice Acting. Like I said I'll decide when I see the first episodes.
ironknife:
I don't care anymore the movies the cartoon the comics they can keep it !!!!

all tho i like most of the new toys coming out..
Waxy:
I kind of like the Snake Eyes, but I think that logo is awful. But, it's not directed at me, so let them have at it.
M_renegade:
I like the simplified style, tho i would prefer something more serious. Still ok with it.

I don't like the logo at all.
Personally, the letters are too thin, it lacks strength.
And for some reason, i see something else instead GI Joe:

Dealer Destro:
wow not feeling either of those.
KingStalin:
I am not a fan of that logo at all.
popsicleviper:
I hate it.
boomer77:
Disappointing...............

I hope it grows on me. Not so sure about Renegades now.
Trooper13:
I dig the Renegades logo.
ooten:
I hate the style of animation used for Snake Eyes, makes him look soft and slouchy. On the other hand the Special Missions and Storm Shadow covers look awesome.
ooten:
Hate to be so negative, but if Sigma 6 didnt make it I dont think this will either. They chose a more modern anime style for it, which seems to be the popular things for kids, and it didnt work. Now they're trying this as some have said it looks similar to clone wars. I doubt it will work, but i hope it does as long as the toys are cool and dont ruin the POC styling that everyone seems to love.

Well, S6 wasn't released world wide, and for better or worse, RoC had that advantage, so PoC will follow.
Also, consider that S6 figures were HUGE and expensive against much more cheaper and popular stuff like 1:18 figs.

I think Renegades has more advantages than S6 to work. *cross fingers*

I hope so too.
They said "they will look fine along the previous figures", nothing like "they will retain PoC style"...so i guess Renegades will be the Joes Clone Wars. Not too bothered, as long there isn't such a big difference (like regular SW troopers and the scrawny smaller CW troopers) between figures.
Steel:
I'm not feeling the Renegades concept, but am happy because it's Joe. This could be the ticket to get the kiddies back into the property, which leads to collector-oriented gimmies later on.

The Year of Joe marches on!
Super Beast:
That snake eyes looks like something you can win out of one of them claw machines..eeshh..

I f you guys checked out the the storm cycle on walmarts website did you notice it had a "hub" sticker on the box mentioning the network?
longtimedead:
I had a friend in the late 80s who would buy albums based on their artwork...didn't matter if he knew the band or never heard the music...he bought based on the artwork. We would laugh at him all the time because he would grab the cassette and say, "Man, check out this cover...isn't this bad-ass?" He would put the tape in and the music was horrible. They were not all horrible, but you couldn't just tell by the artwork alone. There are some great albums out there that have horrible covers.

To pan a cartoon aimed towards children based on a logo and two characters is crazy! I understand these are peoples opinions...but take it easy and relax...these are toys and cartoon meant for children. As much as we loved them in the past and the present, Hasbro is not making these for the small niche of vocal collectors, the are gearing this towards children.

I'm excited about GI Joe Renegades, Pursuit of Cobra, a new movie looming and the new Hama scripted Joe comic. This is a great time to be a Joe fan! There is enough out there to keep us happy...we take the good with the not-so-good!
The BLAY:
I'm not sure how much I'm liking the animation look for the Renegades... I guess time will tell.
dragon:
im not like art style to much gijoe renegeade series i feel gijoe fans got downgrade in animtion and transfans got an upgrade from the previous transfroms aniamtion series ill hold judgment until see more characters and few in action trailer, teaser clip of the show or seomthing

I feel the same way. Way to really downgrade a logo!
KingStalin:
Another thing that bothers me form the logo is the continuing distance Hasbro has been making with the Joes and America. I understand it's easier to sell the cartoon and toys internationally without the American subtext but this is really disappointing.

Coming from somebody that was not American when the Joe series was hit...having anything to do with America had no impact in me liking the cartoon. If it's cool the masses will dig it.

DP.
Troynos:
The Renegade Joes are just as American as the old ARAH, from all indications, there's been nothing to show it's an international team. If anything Renegades will probably take place more in the US then the old ARAH series did. They were all over the world.

Just because it's not in the title doesn't mean anything. RoC (and by extension PoC) are an international unit.

IDW and Renegades (not confirmed obviously) are american units.
skrapps:
i still dont get the title of renegades.. make it seems like its a bunch of rebels

ren·e·gade (rěn'ĭ-gād')
n.

1.One who rejects a religion, cause, allegiance, or group for another; a deserter.
2.An outlaw; a rebel.

adj. Of, relating to, or resembling a renegade;
traitorous.
intr.v. ren·e·gad·ed , ren·e·gad·ing , ren·e·gades
To become a deserter or an outlaw.
M_renegade:
You worry too much about not being "arah" anymore.

As a foreigner i can tell you that GI Joe doesn't need to have a flag or stars in the name and promote every character as north american to understand it's...well, north american lol

Even my mom knows GI Joe=USA. And she doesn't even knows there where a cartoon and comics about it (ol' joes where well known around here just by the toys alone)
