There's talk it'll be an FPS... Doubt it'll be able to hold a candle to COD, Battlefield... Or even Home Front, but Id probably still buy it for the novelty of having a GI Joe game.
WVMojo:
It's an EA game...they should just put some skins on BF3 and call it a game...

Or else, release a DLC for BF3 that's GI Joe Skins for the vehicles and classes.
skinny:
translate video game lingo please

sounds like maybe coloring books? lovin that.
Cobra80:
What do you guys mean you hope this is better than the ROC game. The ROC game was Awesome! My favorite video game!

.........J/K I still don't know which sucked worse, the game or the Rise of CRAP movie. I am still leaning towards the movie.

I liked the video game. It was a bit campy and retro. But it kind of had the right elements of scifi millitary hardware and action set pieces the movie lacked. It was a bit like contra.
I love all the ARAH homages in the scenery. Its like their repeating the classic comflict in the same universe, and only cobra commander is in on the lost history.

I intentionally tried to avoid playing the movie joes. Once I unlocked them, Gung Ho and Beachhead became my go to team. Gung ho can take down armor with his grenades. And beachhead can knock out infantry with mines.

I have it on the xbox360 and nintendo DS.

Clearly if its a better game than Rise of cobra. I'll be on board to see what its like. It will probably be a third person shooter again, to show off the actor models. But the hud won't focus on score, and you'll probably have more call of duty elements somewhere. But there are other advantages to third person shooters in the frantic action of gijoe, like if a tank is about to roll over you, you get the peripheral vision a fps lacks.
zarana:
i hope you can run backward in this one and have the camera follow you.
TripleCP:
Joe vs Cobra would make great RTS material. The Command & Conquer series had a similar theme that blended military and sci-fi elements, but it been losing steam for years (meaning there's a niche that Joe could fill).

The FPS market is pretty saturated.
DrKain:
How about they not make a movie license game for once? Why waste the money on crap? OH wait, because they want unsuspecting parents to flush $60 down the toilet because their kids will want the game because they are too young to know what a good game is. After all, it probably costs $2 to piss out a movie game, which in turn gives a $58 profit right after the first sale, and any other dumb idiot to also buy the game means $60 of pure profit.

Because with a relatively low investment and a (very) short development time they can rake in the money from the name recognition alone. That my friends is why movie games keep getting made.

Perfect Snake Eyes game would use the Metal Gear Solid engine.

Or go tenchu with it!
Fred Broca XIII:
...It's a movie game...it will be terrible at best...every movie gets a game now, and they typically put minimal effort into the making of movie games...the last decent GI Joe game was on the NES...it's sad, because there is so much that could be done with the franchise...
killeykahn:
If its an EA game, I'm hoping it would be more like Army of Two for the shoot-outs(FLINT,RB),sprinkled with some tenchu/assassin's creed ninja action (SE,JINX).
footloose:
gi joe fps= very bad idea
heres what id like in my joe game and im sure theres others that would agree.
1) Familiar GI Joe enviroments. The Pit, Terrordrome, Flagg, Defiant Shuttle Complex, Cobra Island etc etc
2) The Ability to choose the squad of joes (or cobra) for each mission
3) Special Skills and Abilities for each character. Since Joes and Cobras have various abilities and skills have a leveling system tied into these skills and abilities. the more the skills and abilities are used the stronger they get. Not to mention unlock new ones as you go level up your various characters.
4)When not playing the campaign, a map editor or skirmish option.
A map editior which would allow you to create various terrains for placement of premaid cobra and joe bunkers and turrets, buildings, bots etc etc. (I think this would allow people to recreate those great moments they had as a kid while playing gi joe). would also be alot of fun multiplayer. 1-4 player. Joe Vs Cobra.
A skirmish option would allow you to replay unlocked mission for xp and $

In my opinion theres only 2 ways to pull this off.
1) A squad based shooter. 3rd person with the ability to pop into 1st person. You get a squad of 4 Joes. You can swicth out between them on the D-Pad while playing each mission. Before each mission you get to select your team. as you play the game you will find more teamates, and with the cash system beable to purchase more teamates and vehicles. Characters will have a class system. Medics are profciient healers, Heavy Gunners are more proficient with heavy weapons, etc etc etc. However Lets say Duke pics up a sniper rifle during a mission. He can still use it to raise his accuracy. All weapons and battle skills(healing, piloting, driving etc) can be advanced by any joe, just that each joe will be more proficient in his or her pre determined skill set. This idea would be similar to the Conflict Desert Storm series(PS2/XBOX) and Hidden and Dangerous (Dreamcast/PC) games. Full squad control, individual control, and the ability to split up your squad for flanking.
2) Turn based Strategy. 3rd person View. Choose a squad of 12. Some of the same things could apply here as above. Just a different play style. still have a leveling system, various skills for the characters. A bigger roster of Cobra and Joe to choose from. INcluding Vehicles. No being that this is turn based that means my unit goes, then your unit goes, then my unti, then your unit, etc etc. Giving it more of a chess feel to the game. Like all Turn Based Strategy Games how far you move and actions you take will depend on your Action Points or AP. This idea is similar to Fall Out Tactics(PC) or Valkyria Chronicles(PS3). Both would make excellent Joe Games.

im done ranting but thats what i want from a Joe game.. I love FPS but i dont want my Joe game like that. I want to be able to use a squad and be able to see them. I want to be able to switch between the people in my squad. i want my joes to have different skills and abilities and be able to level up their skills as i play, and id like a decent multiplayer experience that takes me back to how i felt playing gi joe when i played it back when i was a kid. a FPS will not give you this.
Christoph:
I'm in..... I still like playing my 1985 version on my NES. I really hope its a FPS......
DrKain:
I don't. I hate FPS. I don't mind a shooting aspect. In fact, they should let Naughty Dog do it because they have the Uncharted engine, which is by far the best shooting adventure series on any game console. Or let Rocksteady do it, as they have proven themselves with the Batman Arkham series.

Just don't give it to Activision or Atari since those companies can poop out turds overnight. They pretty much just have the game already made, they just need someone to give them money to skin up the characters to look like those under that license.
crock master:
i said it when the last game came out and i will say it again.

since we all know movie games end up being cheap pawn offs or totally shitty.
they should just do something simple like use the battlefront format and switch it over to g i joe. therefore everybody can pick whomever they want from the joeverse and run around and shoot people first person.

why spend the whole budget to make a turd? greedy bastards.
just like the last game, they made a big ass constipated turd and tried to pawn it off as a contra game.
then everyone bought it and it had no conta resemblence.

ah how fun that was. you just hold the shoot button down the whole time. why even make a factor in the game. they should have just had the guy shooting automatically without the push of a button.
BCYOJOE:
3rd Person shooter would work. It really worked for Transformers: War For Cybertron. It even has unique abilities for each player. It'll work for G. I. Joe.

I think Hasbro announced on their 2010 Investor day that Publishing rights went to EA.
Fred Broca XIII:
EA got ahold of it; it should be guaranteed to be a smoking turd then...EA just buys up whatever properties they can get their mitts on, and then they drive it into the ground (ie: command and conquer)...If anyone wants to see a decent GI Joe game, don't put your faith in anything that is a movie adaptation...
Some_Gamer_Dude:
Doesn't hasbro give a damn about GI Joe? You'd think they'd want to replicate WoC, and shooters, 3rd or 1st, arguably work better with GI Joe.

Colours other than brown and gray for a start.

That doesn't set a very high bar. Unfortunately that was the absolute worst game I've ever paid full price for.

This trademark is likely for the game booklet and dvd case sleeve...you have to cover every printed material just as you cover the digital material...they get you coming and going...but all of this is a waste of money anyway, it's all for a movie game which as we all know, or should know by now, movie based video games usually aren't worth playing...no matter what the franchise...
DrKain:
The only good that will come out of this video game is having a great Angry Joe review of it. That is going ot be priceless.
