Gyre-Viper: Cycle-Armor with Ashiko. - took forever for me and my friend to figure out how to
put this thing together into/with/onto Ashiko for 'body mech armor' form.
don't be surprised if this never gets made. it is awkward and stupidly top
heavy (can't stand up at all really)... too many parts (in a bad way)
and honestly can't be played with... too fragile. granted this is just the prototype and might get some tweakage before release... but honestly...
itz like setting up dominoes: one piece comes loose and everything goes to
hell from there. The prototype is Wraith... but with a new head.
The finished version (as seen in the Joecon photos) has a 'biker' helmet
and doesn't have some of the Wraith bits. The new head is kinda Tron-ish.
The tires are rubber. I tried to post pics of every 'step' of the transformation from cycle to armor. Ice-Cutter with Snow Serpent Officer. - rubber tread. 'working' wheels. HISS Scout with Sand-Viper. - rubber tread. Gyre-Viper:
rear wheel moves up and down. Zefram: I might actually get the ice cutter now. I didn't know the chainsaw treads could fold back. Gyre-Viper: The piece on his back hides in the cycle when not in armor mode so there are no loose pieces in cycle mode. DaViper: cool thanks for sharing! I'm still going to pass on these when they come out... Gyre-Viper:
you put your right leg in...
hokey pokey Gyre-Viper: finished form. all i had to go on were joe con pics that were painted. Gyre-Viper: Quote:

are very basic... if not sub-basic. and the cycle armor is a decent idea...
just poorly executed in my opinion. i dunno. maybe the armor will grow on me with a finished version. Zefram: That kibble on the back kills it. :( captain99: It's like the 90s all over again with Hasbro and GI JOE. It can only go down hill from here.... Gyre-Viper: Quote:

I laugh at you because I had BOTH sets, the Guardians AND the Renegades! Gotta love that list the came with telling exactly which Gobots fit in which suit. Actually, I've just remembered that I used to stick Joes in those things, perfect fit.
Thanks for the pics!
I really don't like when a "Transformation" consists of taking something apart and reassembling it. I could chainsaw may car and pike it up into a humanoid shape. It looks okay to me so far, with a pretty convincig bike. I think the Robotech ones came apart, but not to this extent. Japanese precision beats amercan toy conversion I guess.
Ice Cutter looks pretty neat to me, although I fear it will be in the $24.99 assortment, which is a bit much if so.
I like the classic design elements of the HISS, and I wouldn't mind buying that figure mold again, the colors are great. It may take a while before I can look at it and not feel half of it is missing though.
Thanks again, I appreciate the peeks since news is pretty slow lately. Steel Brigade: That's amazing... thanks for the detailed pics buddy!!
I hope they change ithe mech to lock together better & I hope Ashiko doesn't come with the Wraith "wired" arms...
FUNNY, I just got a gray-market DVD complete set of the Gobots cartoon this week!! lol JohnJett: I'm hoping that the final version makes some improvements on the cycle armor. I was really excited about it, maybe even more than I was for the new Snake armor.
The mash-up between Robotech and Joe was too perfect for me. It was like peanut butter and chocolate.
Hey, Gyre? Can you lie to me and tell me it's the greatest toy ever so that I can have something to look forward to? joecom: Awesome Robotech lives in GI JOE samantha: I am going to hold out hope. I like the concept. Zefram: Quote:

I definately remember having this guy though. Considering Transformers hadn't yet made a combiner that didn't need 15 extra loose pieces to fit the robots together, this guy made Devastator look like a punk! Nekoman: Thanks for the pics! The Ice Cutter looks great, but the other two aren't so good. I don't think I can get used to the HISS scout. georox: I so want the cycle set... remind me to rob Gyre in his sleep... Jinx723: Why did you say "don't be surprised if this never gets made"?
It looks cool, from the pics we've seen from JoeCon. I'll make my final decision on getting this when I see it in person, if we see it. erwiny: Thanks for the write up and posting the pics!
Although the execution leaves a lot to be desired, I agree that the concept was intriguing. megatron103: Quote:

I never had that, but I am terrified of his pelvic area and it's potential "ramming speed."
Nope, I just had the combiners that made you provide your own figures.
I do hope this motorcycle this turns out okay at least. And those wraith wires have definitely got to go since the movement of aaching the armor will snap them immediately. He's got quite the Built to Rule deal going on with those armor ports. ocab27: Yo those are very cool man i thought you didnt get into proto vehicles ?? Gyre-Viper: Quote:

[quote=Jinx723;1075781]Why did you say "don't be surprised if this never gets made"?
quote] First of all... if you look at the Joecon pics... with the legs all stuck together... I think someone at Joecon tried posing it and realized that the damn thing CANNOT stand on itz own with any ease and so they just stuck the legs together and crossed their fingers for a miracle. Second... and related... there's no way this would test well with kids. Hasbro isn't aiming this at us... at least not primarily... top heavy and everywhere you touch it... it falls apart. prototype or not... the pegs that keep this thing together aren't placed well and confusing. not every kid is gonna read the instructions nor care to in the first place. itz not a friendly item. If I can't look at the Joecon pics and figure out what goes where without wanting to spit in the thing's face... that's a problem. And all the parts... just begging to be lost. Let me tell ya... don't play with this thing around your couch. I just mean I don't see this testing well... you've seen all the pics I've posted on this board since I joined... I am very patient. hell, 99% of my collection comes from China... but I simply lost all of my patience on this toy. Quote:

If it makes you feel any better I didn't snag the Outback with tank prototype. heheheh. Besides these vehicles are small. Gyre-Viper: Quote:

the visor is wraith but the finished version pics from joe con
show an actual helmet. spect_spidey: Can we see some better pics of the Ice Cutter and HISS Scout? Those are the 2 I am really interested in. lol Thanks for the post though. ShakeZula77: Disappointing................. zenfakor: I forgot about that gobot thing, man how I wanted one then, and now again. ultramax: Pass, macross was way better, joes should not go hitech / scifi, the line is getting away from the unique special ops each character is, not the stupid 'armor' or 'mechs' they r in, otherwise anyone can be a gi Joe sparhawk: If its cheap enough, wraith custom part bait. vermillion21: thanks for sharing the preview pics ... cool! Gyre-Viper: ya i'll give the two other vehicles some more exposure.
more pics etc. alcoholic ewok: i kinda see the motorcycle somehow making it through testing but they may have to dumb it down some more. what I don't get though is the HISS Scout...as if it having a name based off of High Speed Sentrywasn't enough, they had to make a lighter, higher speed one? Plus it just looks so damn plain, like someone grabbed it out of a used parts bin at a flea market. Dr. Vile: first off I'm a sucker for motorcycles, especially ones that transform. In a fashion I want this toy produced, while at the same time I would have hated owning this as a kid. It looks way cooler in concept but turns into a pile on your table. The other two vehicles feel like the trash they produced back in the 90;s.( landfill toys) Dawg99: sweet man thanx for the pics CrimsonGuard101: The motorcylce looked waaaay better at the con pics....and that Hiss thing wtf is that? really? A tread system with a gun? LOL omg pass on that thing for me...
I dunno what that ice thingy with the saws is supposed to be, I thought it was a larger vehicle on scale with the Icedagger but if it's that small I will not be hodling my breathe fiinding that thing.
The cycle is all that intersts me, wraith body is disappointing was hoping that figure was a new figure in new armor for the joes. Ultimatley the figure can be kitbashed better I am sure and we can make it look better. The Actual cycle once assempled has potential too as a better Silver Mirage/Ram 2.0 and kills both of the ninja cycles we currenlty have. Gyre-Viper: ya like i said... nothing overly exciting in this lot...but i figured some new stuff couldn't hurt the ol' news and rumors forum. hhehehehehehh.
i'll post some more POC protos later in the week when i'm not juggling 9 billion things. Shin Densetsu: Quote: |

| The ride armor is actually from Mospeada. I don't mind the armor and mechs so long as they retain a militaristic aesthetic. The Sigma 6 Iron Hammer is a great example. Quote: |

| It's saving grace for me is it is able to combine with the new bravo HISS. If not...yeah I'll probably pass Quote: |

| It's smaller than the Ice Dagger, the Ice Dagger is a bravo and this is an alpha.
The bike armor's got potential, I think the quality will be much better on the final production models. |
