Just got into the hotel and had a chance to walk around. The convention hall is massive and the Para Drop Location is going to be killer.

Just a word to the wise, Do not use the Super Shuttle Bus to the hotel unless everybody in the bus is going to the Hotel. It took 2 1/2 hours to get to the Hotel Via the Bus. In a cab it would have taken 30 minutes and $15.00 extra. Well worth the extra cash.

Not much to report on yet but stick around all week long for the best coverage on the net!

    UPDATE JUNE 26th 7:45 EST

I'm arriving Wednesday morning and taking the Super Shuttle. I hope it doesn't take 2 1/2 hours too. I thought the taxi from DFW airport to Frisco was $60 or more. Did someone take the taxi and it was only $45?
Shin Densetsu:
Eagerly anticipating any pictures of any upcoming Storm Shadow figure.

I asked a few Cab drivers for a set rate and they all said $50.00. If your in a hurry to get to the Con take a cab.

If you look at the comic cover you get major hints. As far as the vehicle goes the strong rumor is: Black Military Hummer

Not conformed yet but wait for around 9pm tonight and pics will be up.
jamarmiller:
ill second the request to ask larry hama a lot of questions about the comic!!
fireflyguy:
Forgive my ignorance, but if they do have exclusive Lowlight and Shockwave figs at the convention, is going to the convention the only way to get them (hence the term "exclusive")? Am I going to have to sell some more body parts to get one off eBay?

That would be messed up if the convention is the only place you can get 25th style Shockwave and Low Light figures.
COBRACOLLECTOR:
if anyone can grab me a Joecon Cobra Commander please i beg id give my heart or a pair of lungs for one.

my guess is that those 2 and Longarm will be sold like the Steel Brigade figs or Starduster and Grandslam. but we shall find out today or tomorrow.
Chris_:
Ok, I asked this in another thread, but I'll reiterate. If I go to this, what exactly will I get out of it? I show up at 10 AM on Saturday, pay my general admission, what is the likelihood I get anything "exclusive"? I don't care about anything other than the 3 3/4" stuff.

I don't want to waste the gas, and the hour it takes driving to Frisco, if my chances of getting anything I want are slim to none, and I don't care about seeing any 'custom classes', or anything like that. Not into the whole costume thing, none of that stuff either. I want to go, get some exclusive stuff, come home. If by 10 everything good is going to be gone, I'm not wasting half my day, and a tank of gas for this.

They aren't 25th style. They are "old school" ARAH style. See the box set for this year. The Club/Joe Con mainly does older style ARAH figures for their exclusives (with a few exceptions, e.g. Robot Rebellion CC).

Well, crap in a hat. Never thought that FP could get Larry Hama to write a comic for the con. I'll have to keep my eyes glued to Previews so I don't miss my chance to pick this up. Wonder who's on art?

Why not? LH has been a special guest of the GIJCC of at least two cons. Not everyone hates Fun Pub.

We have, but we've seen only two pieces of cardart and they have only been posted on the GIJCC forums. You can sign up for free to see them if you want.

I arrived at Embassy Suites Frisco at about 10:30am today. I took the Super Shuttle after making sure they were going to the Frisco hotel directly. The van trip took 40 minutes with one stop on the way to Frisco. I used the con coupon and it cost $28.

The hotel is very nice with the convention center connected to the lobby. The suites are very nice and large.

It is very hot here. I walked over to Ikea for a cheap lunch and then did some walking around the mall and strip malls. I stopped at Toys R Us, Target, Ross Dress For Less, Marshalls, TJ Max, Tuesday Morning and Target to see what they had for GI Joe toys. The Ross store has the first GI Joe 25th 5-Pack for $11.99 but I passed. The Toys R Us and Target had the usual pegwarmers. I checked Target for the new vehicles but they didn't have any in back.

Oh, I didn't mean my post to come off as being about love or hate, but rather money. I was just basing that off the fact that they haven't had Simon Furman do a comic for them (to my knowledge) even though they've had him as a guest at Botcon. For the Botcon stuff, they've had fans do the scripts/art (Milne did art, but he's a semi-pro at best). There's a bit of a difference in $$$ from an appearance fee to paying for a 22-page script from what I've read.

I haven't tracked the Joecon comics, TBH. Have they had any pros do them before now?

That is the joes that are going to be sold seperate of the set..that or in the set and they haven't shown them yet. Look at the box art and you can definitly see Shockwave and Lowlight... niether are 25th. probably just retooled originals. there is a third joe in the pic, but the name covers him up, so I am not sure who it is.

there is always a few other exclusives other than just the set.
C.I.A.D.:
The exclusives are pretty cool....pics coming soon, everyone!

    Hi Destro
I have just joined the forum and I hope it is not too late to post a question for the Hasbro's G.I. Joe Team. My question is Hasbro's going to release a Compilation Song Box (or a bonus CD with the Live movie) with all the opening, ending and scores of the entire G.I Joe cartoon Seasons, movie and Sigma six this year? Transformers has soundtracks on it's series and Movies. Why not G.I Joe? Thank you.

Last year they had an awesome Vamp giveaway that I really wish I'd picked up from eBay. I can't wait to see what's in store. Too bad none of it's 25th Anniversary related.
