Hot Toys has just announced that they have secured a licence for GIJOE Retaliation in 2013. You will be able to purchase these from Sideshow Collectibles and it looks like Roadblock will be the first figure produced.

exactly! and with so many who complain about Sideshow's offerings,I doubt many people here will be buying....

Hot Toys do make the best 12" figures in the World and even expecting the movie to suck, the figures will look nice!

Ohhh, yeeaaahh.

Still, I am excited to see their Rockblock. The potential to recreate my 1:18 Rockblock custom in 1:6 scale is kind of cool. Soul crushingly-expensive (especially with all the gear that would need to be purchased), but cool.

Nobody on the Tank complains..............
Davestro:
Wow...wonder what this means for the Sideshow line now. Many are crying "death of the line" and this might be it's death knell if the shift will be toward movie figures.

Looks like we are only getting Bludd and Baroness next year. The rest will probably be Retaliation figures - Roadblock, Cobra Commander, Duke, Firefly, etc.

I'd be excited about a Cobra Trooper or helmeted Cobra Commander. If they are as good as The Avengers line, we might be in for a treat.

If Sideshow stops doing their Joes,I will be quite pissed

The Hot Toys figures will be good,I don't doubt that, but I hope Sideshow doesn't use this as an excuse to not continue their renditions of our ARAH Classic Joes
Davestro:
Yeah, I could see both lines co-existing - HT does the movie line and SSC does ARAH.

I don't know if the typical Joe fan will dish out the $200+ prices HT demands. It was hard enough to get people to buy the $100-$150 Sideshow versions. A lot of the HT collectors pay a pretty penny for spot on movie likenesses.
RolandofGilead:
I was going to be upset that the two lines won't mix, but I guess it's ok to have a realistic Joe line from Sideshow, and a movie verse line from Hot Toys.

Be warned if you're new to HT, the sculpts are excellent, but be prepared to pay $200+ for each.
atomsmasher:
Sideshow and Hot Toys are two different companies. Hot Toys also has a host of movie licenses that never see the light of day. IE, Prometheus figures. If the movie bombs these figures won't move forward and if they move forward each and every one well be over 200. Of course we shall get likely all we desire just look at the Batman trilogy line.

On that note I think I'll just stay with Sideshow ones instead Cheaper and the Joes I know.
Hard-master:
I wonder if Roadblock will have his Arashikage tattoo like the wave 2 figure
Davestro:
Yeah, take a look at The Avengers and Batman TDKR figures from Hot Toys...I almost broke my "Joes Only" rule to buy Catwoman because it looks just like her.

But with such accuracy comes a pretty penny...Rockblock will be at least $200 or more because he will be taller than 12". But imagine all the goodness a Snake-Eyes or Storm Shadow would be...armor, weapons, etc.

I personally would love to see a decked out Firefly in his movie camo and TONS of weapons and bombs.
Nightrain:
Do Hot Toys clothing straps come apart easily? I gave up on Sideshow because of that.
Fred Broca:
The Rock and C.C. Hot Toys are going to be S-I-C-K. I just realized that Hot Toys made Channing Tatum acceptable to the JOE fans. These figures will go very nicely with the JOES from Sideshow.
zartan/destro:
Really? Before a true Destro figure or a pair of Crimson twins. You think im shelling out 279 on that before u feed me my vintage figures..Come on man.
Sciencefriction:
This is great, just what I wanted but didn't think would happen. On the flipside, we'll be lucky to get more the The Rock and Bruce Willis. Hot Toys is notorious for only "sampling" proporties, something like what we saw with The Avengers line is very rare with Hot Toys.

Sorry,Hot Toys are GREAT...but no Collectible Company will ever convince me to buy a gay tatum figure, let alone pay $$$ for one....

100% agree! Though Destro is coming(possibly shown at SDCC '13)...the problem is that Sideshow has slowed down the line and are taking their old time developing these figures because of "other" licenses they have obtained...
TripleCP:
I doubt HT will make any figure beyond Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Cobra Commander...maybe Joe Colton if the film does better than expected.
Kungfuguy:
Seriously, who's buys these in this economy?
supermarines:
HT and Sideshow are different. SS is american distirbutor of hot toys. I don't know if we can see a second figure from hottoys other than the Rock. They have tte expandables and the expandables 2 license. Only figures we see from those films are two stallone's. They pushed batman, Iron man and avengers because they sell like hot cakes. Maybe second figure would be a storm shadow because that dude is very popular in asia. Snake eyes and cobra commender odds are low because half a hot toys figure is life-like face sculpt. hot toys collectors won't buy masked figures.
John Christopher Depp:
Since this is another case of Sideshow sharing a license with Hot Toys, SS usually requires Hot Toys to release more than one figure, so I'm sure we'll see a few for Retaliation.
Storm Shadow is a lock, he'll happen for sure.
And they just used that photo for the license announcement, in no way have they confirmed that they're doing the Rock first.
ziarenek:
Everyone's getting excited about CC, Firefly and Roadblock but no one mentions Lee Byun-Hung as Storm Shadow? If they make him then he will be my first Hot Toys figure

Considering Hot Toys' location and employees(a lot of their sculptors are Korean), I'm pretty sure a large part of the reason they got the license was to make a Lee Byung-Hun figure. That guy is a huge star in asia.
streetfield:
Great news,I always save up for hottoys, hope they do snake eyes and cobra commander-just one thing on c.commander, has hasbro done a movie accurate cobra commander for next year?

Knowing hot toys, I only expect them to make storm shadow.
jmw326:
I am sure Ht will Do Roadblock and Snake Eyes. We will be lucky to see anything after that.
