HISSTANK attended the Hasbro Third Quarter 2014 Earnings Conference Call live today.
The last financial quarter was very eventful for Hasbro. Not only the Hasbro-Discovery Hub Network was rebranded, the next Transformers Animated Series; Transformers: Robots In Disguise went to the Cartoon Network. Hasbro also appointed a new Brand President; Mr. John Frascotti. So, we joined the call unsure of what we might hear this time. Will it be good, bad or the usual? But we did not knew, that we were in for a treat as Hasbro made some important statements regarding the future of some of our beloved brands, including G. I. Joe.
More than a year ago, Sister Site TFW2005 revealed for the first time, a curious new Hasbro Trademark at the United States Patent & Trademark Office. The trademark is called AllSpark Pictures and it was only today that Hasbro revealed what it is. AllSpark Pictures is a new initiative by Hasbro where the Toy Company will produce Movies. Hasbro Studios will continue to provide content for the Television while AllSpark Pictures will cater the Live Action/Animated Movies.
Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner:This new relationship is a terrific complement to the prolific boys’ entertainment slate over the next several years, including film and television entertainment from Marvel and Lucasfilm, as well as the next theatrical installments of Hasbro’ s brands, G.I. JOE and TRANSFORMERS.
***
We envision Allspark Pictures as a new way to make fresh and compelling movies, based on new and existing Hasbro brands, for audiences globally.
***
During the Q&A Session, Mr. Goldner mentioned that AllSpark Pictures was formed in order to increase the focus and effort towards Live Action Movies.
***
CEO also explained why Titan Heroes line exists (it was as if he knew the Fan question). He mentioned that the line is mostly targeted at emerging markets due to their low prices.

Ummm i saw nothing about gijoe except a wiffed reference to it being allsparks property. Hasbro doesn't even showcase it on their product flyer. Deplorable.

They might have if GI Joe wasn't completely absent from about 75% of the US retail market, completely NON-existent in the international and emerging markets, and is skirting the dust bin of toy history.
I mean seriously, does it surprise anyone that GI Joe is NOT a top 7 franchise? We can't even get a mass retail toy line, much less the wide range of varied products Hasbro's other top tier lines push.
Given the marketing mishaps and poor retail performance of the brand the last 5 years, Hasbro is probably going to have to approach GI Joe as a completely new property at this stage.
I view it as a good sign that GI Joe is still being talked about in terms of the movie series, even though it wasn't mentioned in relation to Allspark Pictures.
I'm rather curious to see how that plays out: if Allspark's first theatrical films (MLP and Jem) are successful, and if Joe 3 sees the continued middling performance, we might see Hasbro take over the reigns in a potential reboot.

That may help, pretty much any move in that regard could only help

The article said we were in for a treat icludimg gijoe and if all sparks is taking over live action, I can only assume that means thr next Joe movie unless that's canned and hasbro focuses on a new cartoon. Hopefully splitting up responsibilities will better define how hasbro treats the Joe line.
Steevy Maximus says
The first films being produced by Allspark Pictures are Jem and the Holograms and My Little Pony.

I see tremendous potential here for AllSpark Pictures to be a spring board for Joe product.
In that regard, I would like to see a animated Renegades movie either as a recap of the first season condensed into movie and leading into a second television season or a movie as a follow up and conclusion for the existing television season. Then, I need more figures and vehicles to coincide with it.

If the third movie follows the idea of a trilogy's original script/plot then any other media should be based on the movie franchise.
Leave the past in the past.
ME has pretty much milked ARAH for everything it is worth. That is other than the things collectors drool over and the club is taking up that mantle fairly nicely even if expensively.
Get some consistency in the line. Have the same thing all across the board.
Then if the third movie bombs, wait a bit and start anew.
Let this new entertainment division of Hasbro be as creative as heck and not chained to past stories and characters. As well loved and cherished as those stories may be.
Grimwing says
Allspark Pictures is going to have to be careful not to step on Paramounts Toes.
But it can only be a good thing that Hasbro is getting big enough to have their own studio let alone a film label. How vaguely marvel of them.
Given Hasbros relationship with IDW I would like to see more creatives being able to create media within Hasbro than how paramount has been running things.
Dusty Ayers says
If Hasbro is still talking about Gi Joe, then that is a good thing. Is this earth shattering fantastic news? No, but a little focus is better than nothing.
