Wave 2 GIJOE Retaliation Flint Images are now up for your viewing pleasure. The return of GIJOE Retaliation to retail is underway and we kick things off with Wave 2 Flint. The figure shown on the package is a much different paint scheme then I had expected. As far as "actor sculpts" go, this one turned out really good. Check out images below.

GIJOE Retaliation Flint
Griff:
Man that thing is garbage. Not even movie accurate and a head that looks oversized. easy pass.

I do not agree with that at all. The head is not over-sized, it's fits the body well. It may not be "movie accurate" but I think "garbage" is hardly called for.
Super Beast:
Definitely worth the money!
GeneralxRon:
New head sculpts are always appreciated
RolandofGilead:
I like the head sculpt, and I like the gear included. When I first saw this figure without the beret, I thought it would make a trooper who wasn't Flint. Now with the beret I'm good with this being a new version. Looks good to me.
1FormidableJoe:
This figure is not that bad! Is there any articulation in his ankles?

No there is not. But for me that does not matter because of the way I display my collection. It still has a good amount of articulation.
JoeMama:
It looks awesome. I want 2.
Great fig, one of the gems of Retaliation, and one I have been waiting on for awhile.
I'm glad the head is not spot-on movie accurate, because it will make a great head-swap for a 2nd character / greenshirt.

so by no articulation, do you mean no ball joint like the new ninjas, or no articulation at all, like the new SW figures where the foot is molded to the leg? Is there at least 25th ankle articulation?

No meaning none, and yes like a Star Wars Figure.
Dem_Yoe'z!:
I'll get one just because I'm a completist, but I would rate this figure "M" for "MEH!" (especially with the lack of ankle articulation).
RolandofGilead:
Really? Are jointed ankles really so important? I don't ever remember complaining that I couldn't bend the ankles on any of my ARAH Joes as a kid.
Nightrain:
I already have Flint! Show me someone new.
Cobra Terrorist:
I've been really spoiled by previous ankle articulation - especially the rocker ankles! So it's a real bummer to have a figure with none at all. I won't say it ruins a figure....but it does really detract from it.

Still though, I do like the looks of the figure. The headsculpt too. I'm glad it comes with a beret!

Ahhhh - that's different, man! I didn't complain about the AM/FM radio, manual steering, and manual brakes in my first car - but I wouldn't like it too much now!
GI Guppy the third:
I think I'm just going to hope the second version comes out.
Steel Brigade:
I think the figure looks good, I like the head sculpt... my only crit would be maybe a darker color palette & jointed ankles... (& maybe some different webgear.)

Not a bad figure it's way better than the wave 1 duke that shared the same body type. I really like the sculpt of the head. I got mine from Dorksidetoys today and this and the battle kata Roadblock are both pretty good making me wish I had gone ahead and grabbed the firefly while he had them. Oh well only a couple of more months till the release of the movie and hopefully these will be abundant.

I also liked battle kata RB until they showed the one coming in one of the later waves. I think this is the issue some of the figures are going to have. They have much better versions coming later.

So how many are you gonna buy? But seriously i think it looks pretty good myself.
Raz9000x:
I'm not usually too negative about this hobby. Hell, I even thought the RoC line was awesome. But there's just something about the lack of ankle articulation on these Retaliation figures that trolls me hard. I'm not going to beat that long-dead horse, though.

So on a positive note, I really dig the head sculpt and beret, and will probably use this guy and his accessories for some type of customization. I like the overall look of the figure.
Turtle Master:
I don't hate the figure but it seems a bit thin and narrow-shouldered for an elite soldier. The colors are too pale for me, as well.

I don't think I can purchase a solid footed figure just out of principle. I'm sure its fine for a child, but it would really bother me on a visceral level.
nighthawk:
Figure looks better than when I first saw him.

I'm with ya. I'm just spiled by the previous figures articulation. The beret being removable is nice for custom fodder.
Monkeywrench:
at $10+ a figure..... this is most likely going to be a pass or a 1 and done for me.

But you got to admit it's like test driving a Porsche for five years, giving back the keys and driving away in a Honda Civic. The Civic's not a bad car, it'll get you around town, but it's just not the same.

The reason the first couple of waves are not movie accurate is because they are based on the concept art for the movie. The toy line got pushed up when the original movie date did so they had to get the toys out befor the final designs for the movie was done. We should be getting better movie acurate figures after the movie has been released.
cmderinchief:
I do REALLY like this figure. The head is a bit off ratio, but it is not a reason not to buy him. Like I said, it kinda reminds me of those marionette puppets from The Thunderbirds or Team America.

Well the head looks good on the Hall of Heros Flint body  although the skin tone is a bit off , but I can fix that.
Dusty Ayers:
Is this the one without the ankle articulation? The design looks cool though. I've always been a fan of the Flint character.

Completely agree. I love rocker ankles but I understand they can't be on every fig. Basic ankle articulation is a must though. Without it you can't get a really good firing pose with a rifle because you can't lean the figure.
Mazinger:
What's the deal with inconsistent articulation within figures?

Is it just a way of being cheap?

They also didn't pack them in blister packaging that can permanently deform the legs thereby making them impossible to stand on their own.

The loss of basic ankle articulation is crap and I won't buy any figures that have been gimped. I returned the first wave stuff that I hadn't opened once I realized how annoying it was. Hasbro keeps making it easier for me to save money. I don't buy Star Wars clones anymore because they've limited their articulation and I won't need to worry about some of these movie figures either.

So I Married An Axe Murderer - Head - Part 1 - YouTube

Knowing myself I'll probably end up getting one, just because I haven't bought a new Joe since JUNE! Though it defintly won't be Flint.
PFunk:
Match him up with a shotgun from MJ and he's good.

Hang on a second. Is that the lighting or does that guy have frosted tips?
wrw311:
Ill take it! Without the beret I probably wouldn't pick him up.
speedocub:
Gah, they are going to release this? I guess the gripe about the articulation didn't sink in.
cobraEdaco:
I think he looks pretty sweet and can't wait to own these. I just wish they were out already!!!!!
Superjoe74:
The figure costume design looks like a standard uniformed trooper rather than the Warrant Officer Flint of ARAH many people know. A standard trooper design may have a wider appeal to new audiences as it relates general recognizable characteristics rather than some lesser known specifics of our ARAH Flint.

In any event..I like the head sculpt. In my Joeverse he is not Flint but, I have several Retaliation 3 pack Beachhead figures I have been customizing into a platoon of troopers using different heads and this head will make one more trooper. And this is one of my favorite chest rigs too.
PFunk:
Was just gonna say he'd make a good troop builder.
ilzuccone:
ill take one
Shin Densetsu:
Skipping, I prefer the more accurate Flint snuck into Joecon w/parachute
Rainbow Viper:
Thnx for the pics Destro. The figure looks better than most of what was in Wave 1, but I'm still 100% not buying any figure without moveable ankles. Call me silly if you want but I have standards and I have to stand by them.
MFJayman:
Hmm, the head looks nice, but there just isn't much character in the outfit or design. It's forgettable, it doesn't convey much. I'll probably hold out for that Vault version. Until then, I'll make due with the 2009 5-pack version, despite its, eh, awkwardness.
Kaboomskie:
I'll buy this fig for the head and gear, swap heads with my extra Steel Brigade Delta
Daver:
The bodysculpt looks too gay for me,as do the colors.
What the heck were they thinking at Hasbro's designlabs ?
+ no articulation in the ankles,no thanks.
Overall I'm very disapointed in the 1st batch of figures that's comming for Retaliation.
My prediction is that there's gonna be a lot of clodded pegs in the shops...
Stuart_Selkirk:
Given today's standards, there is no excuse for having figures which are still not ball-jointed everywhere.
To me he looks too babyfaced to be a battle-hardened Warrant Officer, but he's a decent fodder figure.
Let's face it, many figures are just that.
KP Viper:
The head only seems a little large in a couple of shots. Could it be the way the figure was posed or the way the pictures were taken?

I've always just used a hair dryer on them and any bent parts return to their original, intended shape.
M_renegade:
Meh.
He looks more like Wet-suit, might be useful for that.

Doesn't looks like Flint at all, he's got arah legs (simple knees, and no ankle), overused (by now) webgear and stupid gimmick. Easy pass, since i'm not willing to pay 10 bucks (35 here with taxes) for a removable beret.

So, they designed this stuff to appeal kids? Then let them buy it, i'll wait for wave 4, where the cool stuff is.
Troynos:
I like it. The webgear helps alot. The figure was pretty plain when first shown without it.

He's not going to be Flint.

I like the Wet-Suit idea, as the suit does look like it could be a new form of dive suit that can be used on land. Also looks like a pilot's outfit.

Not quite sure what use he'll end up being or what name he'll end up using.
