Qwerty123:
I just received the Retaliation series 3 Alley Viper from viperskingdom. This was a figure that I was very excited about and I decided to go ahead and spring for it. It's a cool fig, I really like the colors. It's mostly the same parts as the 25th Alley Viper, with the obvious exception of the torso, which comes from the Retaliation Duke figure.
THIS FIGURE HAS THE EXACT SAME ARTICULATION AS THE POC ALLEY VIPER- THERE IS NO ARTICULATION MISSING.
The figure comes with some nice weapons as well- naturally he has the 25th Alley Viper submachine gun, which in my opinion is based on the HK UMP 45, and the riot shield. The Retaliation Alley Viper also includes one knife, which goes in the sheathe on his wrist. Finally, the figure comes with the suppressed M4 that POC Duke had, as well as that figure's vest and machete; it's a decent vest for the figure, but I think there are some better ones that Hasbro could've used. I think the vest from Retaliation series 1 Snake Eyes looks pretty good on the Alley Viper. After taking these photos I removed the machete sheathe from the vest- it doesn't strike me as necessary for an urban combat soldier, and it tends to get in the way. It's a very cool figure and I really like it. I'm sure I'll buy a couple more once series 3 hits stores.
Crimson Gord:
i love the way it looks with the second set of web gear you put on him.
Qwerty123:
Thanks, I agree. It fits the figure much more tightly, and looks more uniform, which I think is important when it comes to Cobra soldiers.
DARKWIND:
Ditto on the second webgear choice.
Since he has bodyarmor on underneath it is a much better look!
Looks like I'll be hunting for about 4 of these guys. . .
Also did you trim the M-4, or was it like that on the card???
It looks pretty sweet that way. . .
KINGOFNOD5:
nice remold of the POC M4 if it is

might track down a few.
Kaboomskie:
Nothing beats orange-colored, terrorist special force...but hey, red is a color of intimidation and domination...I'll get 3 of 'em.
Scotty97:
Hasbro couldn't even leave in the mid torso joint? Didn't they say they had "heard" the fans about the reduced articulation? Sigh. Still a nice looking figure, but not an army building must have like the PoC version.

Yeah I have a couple of those M4s, so I trimmed the suppressor off of one of them.

No you're mistaken this figure has the torso joint! It has all the articulation we expect!

Oh well, my bad then. I still can't see it, but since it's yours I'll take your word for it, lol.

wasn't trying to come down on you bro, I'd just hate for anyone to miss out on what I think is an awesome toy
mister-x:
another easy pass, thank you Retaliation
Dem_Yoe'z!:
This is really a cool figure! Did he come with that second head?
JamesBenjamin:
I was just about to ask where that second head is from.
M_renegade:
Fine figure.
Not mindblowing, but fine.
I agree there are better vests for him, but considering that -apparently- he was going to have none, then i won't complaint.

My only issue is the pinkish red... would have been killer in dark red like PoC AV.

Guys, the unmasked head is from Renegades/30th Law...

.
Crimson Gord:
what i like about this figure is that, to me, it appears hasbro is finding more ways to give us the cool troop builder repaints from the past. if you're looking for amazing new sculpts of old unique figures it might not be for you, but personally i think it's great.
vermillion21:
I think I prefer the POC version ...

That red was pretty bright. This does not feel like a must buy for once. That is saying something for me considering how I like to troop build. The POC version does indeed look better; a lot less bright. I have 27 of that version. I think I am good for right now.

It may look kind of pinkish in the photos but trust me its a really solid shade of red. Yes, it is lighter than the POC Alley Viper, but i dont think anyone who likes the orange and blue Alley Vipers will have a problem with the brighter red on this figure.
As someone already stated, the second head is from 30th/Renegades Law, which I like to use for the leader of my Alley Viper squad.
Laser Viper:
Personally, I like it and its a different take on the Alley Viper and this will give others a chance to pick up Alley vipers who didnt get them in their area.
Gatilho:
Easy pass. The POC version is much better.
Steevy Maximus:
Not something I see myself troop building (unless that red looks amazing IRL), but I'm certainly not going to feel it a burden to get one as part of the wave 3 set.

True. And is seems a nice middle ground; not quite as “loud” as the 25th version, but certainly brighter than the POC.

BTW, how is the plastic quality on Retaliation figures stacking up? I know there were complaints about some wave 1 and 2 figures, including the Joe Trooper. How about this guy?

I just picked up a w1 Storm Shadow, my first Ret. figure, but I don’t want to open him up and discover rubbery legs (like those Amazon 4 pack figures).
Rainbow Viper:
I'm sittin this one out unless it gets super clearanced. If the ankles don't move...Rainbow Viper doesn't move.

oh...thanks for posting the pics btw.

Well the ankles do move.

Why are folks hating on this fig? I really like it myself.

The plastic quality is consistent with the POC and 30th/Renegades line- very solid and sturdy, not cheap feeling at all. In my opinion the series 1 figures I chose to buy (Zartan, Joe Trooper, Amazon.com 4-pack) are all pretty solid, with the exception of Zartan, who is KINDA rubbery. I also bought the series 2 Snake Eyes on ebay awhile ago and it is very solid and sturdy, so I think as these new series come out we will see the same articulation and quality that we are used to.

I agree! But then again I just like Alley Vipers in general.

well I see no evidence of any ankle movage in those pics.

if the ankles do move I might buy one, but relative to the POC and Cobra Island versions this one is inferior.

Guys it has NORMAL GI Joe articulation, Hasbro didn't leave anything out!
dpstro:
Thanks for posting...I like the 2nd set of web gear you put on him but as for the figure I'm not a fan of the colors. Sorry just not a fan of bright unrealistic military colors.
sci-find:
Awesome! The comparison shot with all the other Alley Vipers makes clear that it indeed has a somewhat bright but more crimson than pink color-scheme. Glad for it!!
That's gonna be 4 more AV's for sci-find :-) My wife will love me even more for it ;-)
MJjoe4life:
Thanks for posting pics. I like the figure, but i am biased towards alley vipers. May pick up just a few of these though.
Mr Hebime:
I was second guessing this one, but if I see him at retail I'll pick a few up. He's not a bad looking figure, and I've been favoring the AV's lately.
80sKid:
While he looks cool I have a ton of the POC version, which is better IMO, and I am trying not to go nuts with this next line so I think I'll skip this figure... Or maybe just one, or two... LOL! Regardless of all the negative talk on this thread you know this figure will never peg warm and will not be easy to find.

I bet it will be easy to find. Perhaps not a peg warmer, but finding one won't be difficult, at least initially.

Be glad to swap any Now and Later AVs I find for PoC Fury AVs or movie accurate Cobra Troopers.
DaveViper:
Dam you beat me to it op

I bought two of them from viperskingdom. Tracking info says I won't get them till beginning of January so you getting yours early gives me hope I will see them before Christmas. Thanks for putting the pics up.
RolandofGilead:
Is Viperskingdom all out now? I found a few Retaliation figures in his store, but no Alley Vipers, unless I'm going about the search in the wrong way.
GIMark:
^ I didn't see any either

Thanks for the info.

I seem to recall people complaining that the lower legs were rubbery on the Joe Trooper--as basically the one negative about the figure. Maybe I'm confusing it with another figure...

I just remember getting those Amazon Renegades figures, and being shocked at how flimsy their legs were. Got rid of them quick.
