006cobra-viper-commando-ROC
HISSTANK.com is taking a look back at GIJOE Movie Toys from Rise of Cobra aka ROC! We will be featuring figures that may have been overlooked by collectors and may deserve a second chance. If you live outside the USA you may have missed out on this Target Exclusive Serpent Armor with Cobra Viper Commando. IMO this the best version of the ROC Neo Viper who we have given the nick-name Turtle Viper.

Draikar:
I like this viper as well, out of all the colors thay made of him this is one of the best.
red4:
Finally saw this movie about a month ago. Had to do it in 2 sittings, just couldn't handle the whole hour+ of its dreadfulness. But I did buy a Crimson Neo Viper, and I've wondered why the toy's head is so much snoutier than the helmets in the actual movie.
samantha:
I purchased a lot of the Vipers. I liked the design. I don't know why so many had a problem with them. Personally I enjoyed the ROC line.

Oh well, I like the ideal of rewinding and featuring many of the ROC toys.
~Synder Corps.~:
Yeah at least these had the proper amount of Articulation LMAO
crock master:
i didnt like this figure , due to the fact in the movie when they were handing out viper helmets to the troops, all the troops looked like weaklings and super nerds
Gundamben831:
I have an extra snake armor just the armor itself if anyone wants to trade

That's funny, and I've got one of these FIGURES laying in my foder / BST bin I can't get rid of either, I just needed the SNAKE armor! Ha!

"Hey, you got your chocolate in my peanut butter!"

.
Dem_Yoe'z!:
Ironically as much as I hated the ROC movie itself, I liked the toys for the most part. Looks like Retaliation will be the exact opposite.

This is one of the better versions, but I really liked the Crimson Neo Vipers the best. Sort of like royal guards in the GI Joe universe.
07GT500 COBRA:
Personally, I liked a lot (if not most) of the figures ROC had to offer. Some complain about the color palette (or lack thereof) but it wasn't bad like they say and was limited to the single packs. There were a lot of desert, jungle, arctic and urban camo offerings that helped fill out a lot of my collection wants and needs. True, you had to buy vehicles or sets to get 'em, but they were available.
Ultimate Jaburg:
I'm guilty of liking a lot of the RoC figures too. Mostly the impact armor figs, and Storm Shadows.

I didn't hate the Turtle-Vipers, but I didn't love them either. Something about the way the knees and ankles were.

This set was great. I liked the color scheme of the Turtle-Viper.

The armor in black was very cool. It matches up well with the 25th black HISS, and the RoC MMS.
Ultimate Jaburg:
When Dollar Tree got in the Terminator:Salvation figures I put the T-700 in the armor it fits really well, and I like the idea of it being in there to crawl out if the armor gets too damaged in battle.
Ultimate Jaburg:
I also use those Turtle Vipers to work with the RoC Night Adders as a security team.
07GT500 COBRA:
The ROC "turtle" Vipers and ROC Elite Vipers made a pretty cool trooper when you LBC'd them together too.
Troops of Doom:
I don't like the design of any of the various versions of this figure. The armor and helmet make them look like fleas.
JR0d28:
Only Neos I have are Crimson just 6 they are stand ins for Cobra La Royal Guards and a Target SNAKE one just one as the Captain of the Guards
hahoo3:
I liked the Roc figures and vehicles for the most part! It was nice to get some new designs and I think ROC is why the POC and 30th figs got so much better!!!
FIREFLY21:
Just happen to catch part of ROC on tv last night. I realized that I really do like the neo vipers in the movie, they looked like heavily armored badasses. Pretty good looking design if u look at the real ones, but it didn't translate well into toys. I semi-like the crimson ones and the blue Target ones, but not the rest. I really can't stand the legs and arms, and the helmet doesn't reflect the detail of the movie costume. I think if these were produced POC style, they'd be very cool and popular figures
Fred Broca XIII:
I grabbed one of these while they had it...my Target gets cleaned out fast...if they ever get anything to begin with...they clearanced all their ROC leftovers, so I'm glad I didn't bother picking up regular Neo Vipers until they were like $3...ROC figures were decent, I just wish I could have found more than one pit commando...
Darren:
When RoC was on every toy shelf I noticed a funny thing. IMO the RoC vehicle drivers were much better figures than the "actor accurate" single carded figures.

* RoC Vehicles and Drivers that I thought were better than the single carded figures:

- The PIT came with the best version of RoC Hawk. (If your into Joe's that look like actors.....)

- The Rhino came with Rampage. This was a perfect update to the vintage original.

- The Snarler cycle came with Night force Beachhead.

- The Mantis sub came with the Aqua Viper Officer. The AVO was an amazing update to the 25th version. (I bought six of these when they went to Marshel's just for the driver.)

- The RoC Night Raven came with the Strato Viper Officer. Perfect for army builders.

- The Snake Trax ATV came with a 25th Scrap Iron in IG colors.

- The Steel Crusher came with the "Nitro Viper". We all know who the NV really was. I've seen more than a couple of custom's that have made this fig look exactly like the Vintage original.

- The Target Dragonfish came with a nice repaint of Wet-suit. This repaint kind of reminded me of the vintage "mission to Brazil" set I had as a kid.

- The Target Wave Crusher came with a repaint of the Eel. I've been using this version of the Eel as an Officer for my little army of 25th Eel's.

- The Walmart Outpost Defender set came with a good repaint of the Resolute Roadblock.
Viper6:
yall look back on your own im rather sure these things still suck, front paged....really?

I could never get over the lobster armor. The helmets had so much detail but it was lost in the matte black finish. Look at that articulation though, it must not be a Retaliation figure.

Too soon?
arthurnoah:
OMG...can't wait to get my hands on one of these!
CVdelgado:
4 available for trade or sale. MLC no snake armor.

I agree with you except for the PIT Hawk...omg that figure looked like something from sesame street!

but its interesting how the tables have turned to the present...we are in a global recession with limited positive outlook so companies do have to cut costs!

Send your unwanted snake armors my way
Unclassified:
i hate this figure, i got so many some how. i hate em
CornDog_The_Ninja:
You know, I like a lot of the ROC figures. Even the Accelerator Suits. But those ROC vipers were horrible figures. No matter what color they were repainted, I hated them.

I call them turtle vipers.
Waspinator:
The first movie toys weren't that bad actually. I really liked these Vipers, Night Adders, and many others. The new movie toys I am uncertain about.
Laser Viper:
I have 2 of these and one of the figure has a messed up leg and doesnt work right with the snake armor, so he became spare parts or fodder. So a 30th Cobra Trooper fills the gap.
Jmacq1:
The "Turtle Vipers' in general work well as a semi-separate faction in my Joe-verse.
MJjoe4life:
I liked this version the best out of all that we got, maybe b/c of the snake armor. But color wise this was one of the better ones.
orezona:
Yeah, these figures are crap wrapped in poop.

The only remedy is:

+

Xsoldier:
While I did purchase 12 Serpent Armors. I got rid of all the ugly vipers. Those vipers just don't exist in my joe verse. I only bought most figures to have there heads, looks like the continuation of GI JOE HALO figures will demand some more head hunting as well. It does let me diversify my pit commando and green suit companies though.
the odinson:
man, that's an ugly figure. i was so stoked to get a snake armor, and so bah! to find this turd inside. i cut the top of his stupid head off and bloodied him up. not even good for parts, what a jerk.
Kitchen Viper:
The only ROC vipers I liked were the Target/Ross Bubble Gum Vipers. Seriously.
boff123:
the head is great with the red eye color. the body of the figure is aweful. i especially dislike the damn boots on all the neo-viper molds. also the giant body armor is ugly. the few i did keep in my collection, i had to modify the crap out of them.
DPrime:
I liked pretty much all the Neo-Viper variants. I thought it was a pretty cool looking trooper. I didn't like it as the de facto Cobra soldier, but it was a nice addition to the ranks.
