The Baroness from wave 1 of the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toyline has been reviewed. With 2 handguns, a stand which can be lowered or raised by string, with a hook that can be hooked onto the clips on the Cobra Gunship, and a briefcase for M.A.R.S. nanomites, this figure has everything needed for espionage on the G.I. Joe team.

Baroness is movie accurate and highly detailed. She has full range of motion on all joints and can stand well even in heels. Both legs have holes on the thighs to allow both of her pistols to be stored there. The legs also have some straps molded on them to help the illusion that the guns are being held by them. Baroness has a nice hair sculpt and removable sunglasses. Unfortunately, the face sculpt didn’t turn out so well. The face has a look as if it may have been “Real Scanned” into a computer and created that way. This process doesn’t always have the best results. I feel if the bags under the eyes and the cheekbones were toned down a bit, then the face sculpt would look fine. Thankfully the smokey, translucent sunglasses help the face sculpt rather than hinder it like previous Baroness figures. Along with her two pistols, Baroness has a M.A.R.S. briefcase with places for four Nanite missiles. The briefcase uses a thin piece of plastic for its hinge. This hinge may break after years of repeated opening and closing. Baroness also comes with a platform attached to a grappling hook by a long string. The missile launcher that she comes with is one of the better detailed launchers and its missile resembles a Nanite missile making it seem more appropriate than most of the missile launchers. Baroness comes with two Pistols, Briefcase, Nanite, Sunglasses, Grappling Hook with platform, missile launcher with missile and a two-pegged stand.
This figure is a great Baroness figure with some cool accessories. Unfortunately, the two I was most excited about have some flaws. The briefcase has the aforementioned hinge which I can foresee being a problem if used too much. Also, slightly nitpicky, but I would have liked the places for the nanite to fit into actually hold the Nanites in place, but I suppose this allows you to also put the pistols in the briefcase, so I’m not too bothered by it. The grappling hook/platform was the biggest disappointment though. The foot pegs on the platform are too long and thin to actually keep the feet attached and the only way to get the Baroness to hold the shaft of the platform is to have her either crouching down on the platform or sitting on it like a child’s swing. Still, like I said, the figure is nice and has a few good accessories.

I took an exacto knife to her chin and jawline area to lessen the long horseface appearance and now like her much more

Keep her glasses on...

I'd call her a butterface, but that would imply the body is at least good. Her arms and legs are like sticks. The one from the recent 5-Pack is much better in the face and the curves.

Uhh. No thanks. Hunchback, bad face, bad hair.
Scarlett in her armor outfit is much, much better.

I was all set to give her a 4 until I saw the swing picture. Bumps her up to a 5.

See, those were the same gripes I had. That grappling hook had sooo much potential, but the small pegs hurt it. Also my briefcase allreadyhas a crack in the hinge.
