The reactive impact armor Duke from the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toyline has been reviewed. The 2nd Duke figure to be released in the line, this figure sports armor that most collectors prefer over the accelerator suits. Nearly every member of the G.I. Joe team in the movie also has reactive impact armor.
So far, this is the newest version of Duke to hit retail. So how did it turn out? Click in the discuss button to find out!

This Duke is in his Reactive Impact Armor which is painted like all the others with a gray dry brush on black plastic and some glossy black highlights. Duke’s head sculpt looks stern and has a small scar painted on it. Unfortunately, right next to that is a long sculpted scar that is unpainted. I don’t know if that’s a mistake or if they’re all like that. There are a few accessories here that have been on a few other figures like the rifle that comes with Accelerator Ripcord, pistol that comes with Scarlett and belt with un-useable holster that comes with Shipwreck. Duke also has another rifle that appears to be missing its barrel. It’s assumed this is a futuristic update to an existing weapon. On Duke’s right leg is a knife sheath with small knife in it, this is one of those hidden in plain sight type of items. The missile launcher is the same that came with the Delta-6 Ripcord figure with a different missile. Duke comes with a Pistol, Machine Gun, Rifle, Knife, Missile Launcher with Missile and a GI Joe Stand.
Like all of the Reactive Impact Armor figures, Duke looks very nice and detailed but there is a slight problem. Due to the angle of the neck and the way the head is made, Duke is always looking down. It sort of works with the stern look on his face, but it’d be nice to have Duke look Hawk in the eye when he’s being ordered to do something. The removable boot knife is a nice touch, I just wish the belt had a holster for the pistol to go into as well.
Figure Rating: 8 out of 10

over all the fig isnt bad, but that neck thing really bothers me...plus it seems the head sits up too high and his head in the armor is more egg shaped as opposed to the desert camo duke where the head is more a kin to the actor. Im thinkin i might do a head swap so ra Duke has a better more accurate head.

The noggin is a little out of scale with the body. The head also tilts forward at an awkward angle. The figure itself is nice as well as the accesories. However the springloaded launcher is one feature I don't care for in the new line. Thus I rated it lower than I would have had a little more attention was paid to the issues that I have with him.
Of course that's me talking and not a kid that would love the figure. I would have loved this guy when I was a kid though.

I guess you people who gave it higher than an 8 just dont understand what the human body looks like... the proportions are all messed up on this figure from the chest up... His neck is giraffe like and his head is freakishly wide(from back to front/nose) makes him look sooo goofy. Also yall really need to go grab an Xacto, just pop the head and do a little cutting on the back of the neck and he will be able to look up... doesnt help though, his head and neck are HUGE. 6 out of 10 just for the body.... head deserves a 1 out of 10... just for the effort.

Anyone else realize that this figure will make a perfect Dark Knight movie version of Batman?
