Cobra Commander looks very different from how we’ve ever seen him. He has an open coat exposing a robotic looking chest with dress pants and shoes. The oddest look is his head. It has a robotic skull look to it with the front half being clear showing a scarred face underneath. The lower half of the clear part has a silver spray on it that will vary between figures. The clear mask is attached by a peg going into a hole in the head and has a little bit of glue holding it down. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the designers made the peg and hole attachment in Cobra Commander’s forehead so it looks like he’s been shot in the head. There are also two holes on the upper chest where, in prototype pictures, hoses were seen. The hoses seem to be an early running change as some figures still have holes in the back of their head where the hoses went and some have these holes filled in, there have also been new figures showing up that have both the head and chest holes filled in. Also, the bubble tray the figure sits in has a space for these hoses. The articulation on this figure is as excellent as many of the other movie figures and like the majority of those figures, Cobra Commander has a good amount of accessories. The Nanomite Injector and scanner/PDA both have pegs on them to be stored on the sides of his legs. The coat moves enough not to interfere with the weapons being stored here. As a nod to old school fans, Cobra Commander also has a pistol reminiscent of the original Venom Laser Pistol that came with the very first Cobra Commander back in 1982. Included with Cobra Commander is a pet Cobra snake with a lot of detail in a raised position with hood out and ready to strike. Cobra Commander comes with Nanomite Injector, Pistol, removable Coat, PDA, Snake, Missile Launcher with Missile and a Cobra Stand.
While this may not look like any Cobra Commander we’ve seen before, it’s still a great figure with a lot of detail and an interesting look to it. The empty holes on the chest and the one in the head do detract from the overall appearance of the figure though. There is a lot of custom fodder here from the basic pants to the coat to the accessories for those who are not crazy about the character’s look. The missile launcher has a slight mad scientist look to it with a long needle at the end of it.
Figure Rating: 8 out of 10

Not my favorite in the line, good review though.

Also if I was to rate him, it would be a 5. This figure just does not speak to me....yet

I gave him an 8. I really like this figure and it is nice to not get the same old helmet or hooded version...

I dont really like the new look.

It's growing on me. Because I see him as a slight variation on the Battle Armor CC.
vadersquest says
I might give it a try one day, or after I have seen the flick.
Zoltron says
With the mask off he doesn't look like a happy camper.
TTT says
Interesting to say the least, he's a lot scarier looking than 25th Serpentor so that's a huge plus.
Zoltron says
I wonder if they'll work Serpentor into the next movie.
