G.I. Joe Rise Of Cobra Dragonhawk With Wild Bill

Picture-5
A while back at HISS Tank.com, we revealed new images of an all new helicopter bearing some resemblance to the Dragonfly. A new version of Wild Bill, presumably from G.I. Joe Resolute was shown with it. This version of Wild Bill also matches his appearance in the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra video game. Hasbro had mentioned that we would be getting new vehicles based on the classic designs, a few weeks back.

Well it looks like this might be the first. Kmart has a new listing for a bravo vehicle; the Dragonhawk Helicopter with Wild Bill. While they have actually put up a picture of the Cobra Gunship with Wild Weasel, through deductive reasoning we can pretty much tell what the listing is really for.

Paying homage to the Dragonfly, while combining aspects of both the AH-1 Cobra and AH-64 Apache, the Dragonhawk also integrates internal missle launchers, reminiscent of the Commanche. With futuristic styling, this helicopter can fit in both the Resolute and movie lines. This might even be Wild Bill's vehicle in the game, as some vehicles in Resolute, such as the H.I.S.S. Tank, appear in the movie game. Could more vehicles from Resolute make their way into the movie line? After the series aired, one thing was certain; fans want Resolute vehicles!

Unlike the Dragonfly, the Dragonhawk only fits 1 figure. Click on the title bar to see more!

Most of the photos have been placed on the site now . . still showing temp unavailable.
SNAKE EYES:
They have the Dragonhawk(I guess Hasbro lost the name Dragonfly) with Wild Bill we saw on the Tank recently listed on the site now. It has the Cobra Gunship pic though.

GI Joe 3.75 in. Movie Bravo Vehicle with Figure - Dragonhawk Helicopter with Wild Bill
I wonder if this is the Kmart exclusive^

SNAKE EYES:
Thanks for the F.P. credit Shin

I'm curious to see if this might be the Kmart exclusive...
Tomahawk:
interesting

I doubt it. If they get an exclusive I don't think it will be on the scale of an all new vehicle, maybe a repaint, or some retooled figures. I think that the Dragonhawk is a cross-sell for other vehicles. Basically incentive for kids to buy one, and have the desire to buy it's opponent/arch-enemy. Hasbro is using this with Transformers(it's going to be apparent with the offscreen movie stuff later this year).

I think Hasbro will have vehicles in alpha, bravo, and echo size classes/pricepoints that are meant to rival one another. For example, an echo size G.I. joe jet to take on the Night Raven, the Dragonhawk to take on the Cobra Gunship, another ground attack joe vehicle to destroy the Steel Crusher.

If it gets more, larger vehicles out there, I'm all for it.

man, that thing is ugly.

I think it's alright. The missle launchers are concealed very well(they mesh into the sides of the fuselage when retracted), and from the side, the silhouette is similar to the Dragonfly's, from the top/front, it's like an Apache.

I just wish it was bigger/longer, so that it could hold 2 figures. Bigger vehicles FTW. I'd be much happier if it was at least the size/length of the original Dragonfly.

Also, in my opinion, it looks a ton better than the Cobra Gunship.

I think that is my main problem with it. I bet it would look really cool if it were larger, especially if it was the size of the NAC and fit two in the cockpit.
Cobra-Love:
I might get it but seriously I spend too much money on toys...haha
artiepants:
for $25 it really should be able to hold 2 figures...

Oh GOD YEAH! It doesn't help that the NAC is my favorite "new sculpt" G.I Joe helicopter.

Indeed, then it would be a definitive update to the original Dragonfly.
SniperX:
i havent seen it anywhere... meh
Jaybird:
I have mixed feelings on this one. First, it comes with yet another Wild Bill ... and Resolute or ROC or whatever version, I don't need another Wild Bill. Seriously. Second, the vehicle itself is okay, but it's just not that exciting to me. I don't know. It's missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I want to like it, but I'm not sold yet.

Size, this helicopter is small!
DaViper:
Yah that thing is way undersize. What a waste, that would have made a great update if it was done to proper proportion.
samantha:
I will buy 1 of these.
The Mad Bubbler:
I think it's pretty cool. Would it be cooler if it was bigger, and held two figures? Sure, but for the price-point, I think it looks cool. Now if we could only get a Wild Bill without a tiny, tiny head...

Unfortunately, these new vehicles don't come anywhere close to the originals, in terms of cool factor, overall aesthetics, and design.
snakeeyes22:
Say what you will about Cobra Commander's number of releases, bit at least he had the common courtesy to show up with a new head or hand every once in a while.
Wild Bill is just inconsiderate.

Hey he showed up with a helmet a couple of times.
tkprime:
It looks a hell of a lot better than the ol Sonic Fighters chopper (That sucker WAS small) This one at least has some play value!

I wish Hasbro went the route of ARAH; making a line of action vehicles with figures as the accessories. The figures for modern era are great but vehicles don't get as much love in comparison.
Killer 1:
I wonder if the K-Mart exclusive is actually the Sigma 6 Dragon Hawk? Didn't Hasbro say in one of the Q&A's that they were looking into converting the Dragon Hawk for the modern era line?

I think you're exactly right. After looking back on some of the pics, I guess I didn't realize just how small this was. And this is expected to be at the $25 price point? I'll pass.
AMERICAN_Hero7:
Um...yeah, nothing about that helicopter says GI Joe to me...plus it looks easy to break/snap
quintonarledge:
I wish they just created a brand new up-dated mold/tooling for the original 1983 Dragonfly XH-1 like they did with the Ghost Hawk/Sky HAWK and Water Moccasin/Sting Raider.

You never know, Hasbro should still be able to, that mold was used back in 2000 so they might and probably do, still have it.
erikyurk:
The fact it fits only 1 figure is lame on so many levels, I'll keep my vintage dragonfly thanks.
Creeping Death:
Could potentially be cool but I'm wondering if the tail section is too small/short. I've yet to see a pic of its profile. As much as I dig helos, I'll reserve judgment until I see this from every angle to see if the proportions are quasi-correct.
dmarrese:
I might get this. I passed on all previous versions of Wild Bill so it wouldn't be a scam for me to get the character in a vehicle pack. But I'm not sure about the chopper. I'll have to see it in person to decide. I like vehicles but not if they look ridiculously out of scale compared to the driver.

It is probably very close to the size of the Cobra Gunship. Earlier images show it to be a little bigger than the Valor VS Venom Sting Raider, which may see release under another name in the movie line as an alpha vehicle.

Speaking of which, has anyone measured the original Dragonfly? If someone gives me the measurement in centimeters, I can say if the new Dragonhawk is bigger/longer or smaller.

Here are some of the movie vehicle names that we haven't heard:

Cobra Vehicles are:

Mantis Attack Craft

Joe Vehicles are:

Howler is the big Joe plane seen in the PIT

Polar SHARCS are subs

Brawler looks like a Joe SUV or HUMMER

Saw them on the side of the Joe movie Battleship game

Sadly, it's unlikely to happen simply because retailers don't want a "vehicle line." They just want to be able to sell figures as the primary "draw" because they take up less shelf-space.

Doesn't mean Hasbro can't do more/better with vehicles, but we'll never get the volume of vehicles we had in the 80's again.
